Job description

Meta designs, builds, and operates some of the most energy-intensive and innovative data centers in the world. As global demand for compute capacity grows, so does the complexity of securing reliable, cost-effective, and sustainable energy supply to power that infrastructure. Meta is seeking an Energy Analyst to join the Infrastructure Data Center (IDC) Energy team, which is responsible for commercial energy procurement, utility interconnection, and energy strategy across Meta's expanding data center portfolio. In this role, you will support energy market analysis, utility rate evaluation, and supply-side planning to ensure Meta's data centers are powered efficiently and at scale.
Energy Analyst, Portfolio Responsibilities:
  • Analyze energy market data, utility tariffs, and rate structures to support procurement decisions for data center energy supply
  • Develop and maintain financial models to evaluate energy costs, forecast capital and operational expenditures, and assess the economics of utility interconnection options
  • Support the negotiation and execution of power purchase agreements, utility service agreements, and energy interconnection contracts
  • Track and report on energy consumption, billing accuracy, and cost variance across the data center portfolio
  • Collaborate with real estate, construction, and data center operations teams to align energy procurement timelines with infrastructure development milestones
  • Monitor regulatory and policy developments in energy markets relevant to data center siting and operations
  • Assist in evaluating clean energy procurement opportunities, including renewable energy certificates and power purchase agreements tied to new generation
  • Maintain internal tracking systems and dashboards to support energy portfolio reporting and stakeholder communication
  • Coordinate with utility providers and internal finance partners to resolve billing issues and ensure accurate cost allocation

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field, finance or business discipline, or equivalent practical experience
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience using data analytics to answer energy and electricity market questions, preferably with electric utilities, large energy consumers, energy service providers, or consultancies
  • Proven ability to apply quantitative methodologies to analyze the energy market risks and opportunities
  • Experience in analyzing utility tariffs, energy market structures, or power procurement economics
  • Experience building financial models to support energy cost forecasting and scenario analysis
  • Experience managing cross-functional projects and communicating findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of data center power infrastructure, including utility service requirements and electrical load planning
  • Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
  • Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
