Job description

Procurement Operations Manager


We are searching for an experienced Procurement Operations Manager at our East Coast Office facility. 

Position Summary  

The position is responsible for Procurement Operations within the Americas. The role is a mix of people leadership, analytics, tech advancement, and tactical operations with a diverse base of key stakeholders. The stakeholder group includes many internal functions, including Commodity Management, Logistics, Planning, Quality, Manufacturing, R&D, Marketing, Technical and Finance. 

The role requires strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to manage multiple, high-visibility projects in parallel.  

The role is flexible on location with a preference for proximity to an existing Oliver Healthcare Packaging site. Some travel is required, primarily within the domestic U.S. 

People Leadership 

  • Routine engagement with a small team, currently 6-7 individuals, that represent Oliver’s buying and logistics team. Depending on location, this engagement will primarily be virtual with occasional travel to support, as needed. 

  • Lead, mentor, coach and develop sourcing and procurement professionals. Provide feedback on strategies and buying decisions that align with organizational priorities and functional goals.  

  • Establish clear expectations, team KPIs, and development plans for each team member.  

  • Manage workload prioritization and resource allocation across the procurement and logistics team with a focus on building overall organizational capabilities. 

Tactical Operations & Procurement Execution 

  • Oversee daily procurement operations for direct and indirect materials/services and logistics.  

  • Ensure timely placement and management of purchase orders in support of operational requirements.  

  • Support escalation of issues and supply risk to proper Commodity Management and/or Leadership team. 

  • Monitor inventory levels, shortages, and system/order variables in support of functional and company initiatives.  

  •  Maintain strong operational discipline while balancing bias for action and strategic priorities.  

Technology Advancement & Process Improvement 

  • Lead initiatives to modernize procurement and supply chain processes, tools, and workflows. This will be SAP-centric but can evolve to include other platforms.  

  • Lead Procurement systems optimization of ERP features that impact procurement, inventory, and supplier management.  

  • Champion continuous improvement methodology and process optimization initiatives. 

Analytics and Business Insights 

  • Develop and maintain procurement and supply KPIs and reporting metrics. 

  • Analyze spend, supplier performance, inventory variables and trends, and operational data to identify and target improvement opportunities 

  • Monitor and report on delivery performance, lead times, quality metrics, and inventory value and health. 

  • Support strategic planning activities with data-driven recommendations. 

  • Measure and communicate impact of process improvements and strategic initiatives. 

Basic Qualifications 

Education 

  • Degree in Supply Chain, Finance, Operations, or Engineering discipline. 

Experience 

  • 5-8+ years of supply chain, sourcing, procurement or finance experience.  

  • Prior leadership experience with preference for remote and/or geographically diverse teams. 

  • Experience supporting direct and indirect procurement teams preferred. 

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. 

  • Experience with ERP / MRP systems and procurement methodologies. – SAP preferred. 

  • Advanced Excel skills.

  • Understanding of supplier relationship management. 

  • Process-oriented with focus on presentation and attention to detail.  

Working Conditions 

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer 

  • Must be able to lift up to 10lbs. 

Special Requirements 

  • Ability to travel up to 10-15% per year 

  • Domestic travel – occasional and somewhat dependent on location but anticipate 4-6 total weeks of travel per year with focus on California, Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. 

  • International travel – occasional, but likely one week or less per year. 

  • Ability to work occasional evenings and/or weekends in support of different geographic regions.
