Remote Endpoint Security information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Endpoint Security Specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Endpoint Security Specialist, you need a strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, endpoint protection strategies, and relevant IT infrastructure, often supported by a degree in computer science or cybersecurity and certifications like CompTIA Security+ or CISSP. Familiarity with endpoint detection and response (EDR) tools, antivirus software, SIEM systems, and remote management platforms is typically required. Analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication are vital soft skills for identifying threats and working with distributed teams. These skills and qualifications are crucial for proactively defending organizational assets and ensuring robust security across all remote devices.

What is the difference between Remote Endpoint Security vs Remote Network Security?

AspectRemote Endpoint SecurityRemote Network Security

Credentials/CertificationsSecurity+; CISSP; CEHSecurity+; CISSP; CCNP Security
Work EnvironmentEnd-user devices, remote offices, home networksRemote network infrastructure, VPNs, cloud environments
Industry UsageIT security teams, endpoint managementNetwork administrators, security engineers

Remote Endpoint Security focuses on safeguarding individual devices like laptops and smartphones from threats, while Remote Network Security aims to protect entire networks and data flows remotely. Both roles require similar certifications and often work in overlapping environments, but their scope and focus differ significantly.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in Remote Endpoint Security roles, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in Remote Endpoint Security often encounter challenges such as managing and securing a diverse range of devices across various locations, ensuring compliance with security policies, and quickly responding to incidents remotely. To address these, it's essential to implement centralized management tools, maintain up-to-date endpoint protection solutions, and establish clear communication protocols with remote users. Regular training and collaboration with IT and operations teams help ensure best practices are followed and potential threats are quickly mitigated.

What is remote endpoint security?

Remote endpoint security refers to the strategies, tools, and practices used to protect devices such as laptops, smartphones, and tablets that connect to a company’s network from outside the traditional office environment. With the rise of remote work, securing these endpoints is crucial to prevent cyber threats like malware, ransomware, and unauthorized access. Remote endpoint security solutions typically include antivirus software, firewalls, encryption, and endpoint detection and response (EDR) tools. They ensure that sensitive company data remains protected, regardless of where employees are working.

Our difference is our people. That's where you come in.
If you're curious and looking for a remote-flexible, integrated team where you can fearlessly collaborate and deliver best-in-class work, join us!
About the role
Fusion92 is an award-winning Marketing Transformation Partner that helps brands solve complex business challenges through data, technology, and innovation. We move fast, think boldly, and embrace a culture that rewards curiosity and fearless problem-solving. As we continue to deepen our investment in AI and data-driven initiatives, we are expanding our security function to match that ambition.
The right candidate is someone who lives and breathes security, serving as a trusted authority on both current threats and the evolving landscape. This role carries real organizational weight: the security champion for a company at the leading edge of AI and marketing innovation, responsible for ensuring that as Fusion92 pushes forward, it does so with the controls, visibility, and confidence to back it up.
This is a cross-departmental role spanning IT & Technical Operations, Platform, Product & Innovation, and Compliance. Day-to-day security operations are part of the job, but so is the bigger picture: identifying gaps, governing the security implications of AI adoption, shaping how we mature our infrastructure, and contributing meaningfully to where Fusion92 goes next. This candidate will have real latitude to recommend and implement improvements, and the opportunity to build security capability across the broader team over time.
What you'll do
  • Triage and respond to security alerts across Huntress, Blumira, and Microsoft Entra ID, investigating risky sign-ins, anomalous behavior, and policy violations
  • Manage and optimize endpoint security tooling, including SentinelOne and other EDR/EPP platforms, ensuring coverage, policy enforcement, and timely response across the device fleet
  • Assess and help govern the security implications of AI tool adoption across the organization, evaluating data access, integration permissions, and acceptable use boundaries as new AI initiatives are introduced
  • Collaborate with the Platform, Product & Innovation team to ensure security controls and governance frameworks are built into AI and data-driven projects from the outset, rather than retrofitted after deployment
  • Investigate security incidents end-to-end and produce clear documentation for technical and leadership audiences
  • Audit security configurations against established policies, identify implementation gaps, and surface findings with recommended remediation paths
  • Review and validate Conditional Access policies, MFA configurations, and identity hygiene across Microsoft Entra ID
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and coordinate remediation with relevant IT and infrastructure owners
  • Perform routine audits of user access, privileged accounts, application permissions, and SaaS integrations
  • Support compliance gap analysis against SOC 2, NIST, and CIS Controls frameworks and contribute to the organization's regulatory readiness roadmap
  • Evaluate security tools and processes and provide input on improvements that would meaningfully strengthen our posture
  • Assist in training junior IT staff on incident identification and response, progressively delegating routine work as their skills develop
  • Stay current with the evolving threat landscape, including AI-specific risks, and bring relevant insights back to the team

Requirements
Required qualifications
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in IT security operations or security administration
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), including Conditional Access, PIM, sign-in log analysis, and identity protection
  • Hands-on experience with endpoint security platforms such as SentinelOne, CrowdStrike, or equivalent EDR/EPP tools
  • Experience with SIEM platforms and vulnerability scanning technologies
  • Working knowledge of Linux systems, including command-line proficiency and familiarity with common security and administrative tasks in Linux environments
  • Working knowledge of network security concepts, operating system security, and cloud security principles
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, NIST, ISO 27001, or CIS Controls for gap analysis purposes
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical findings for both IT peers and non-technical stakeholders
  • Self-directed and accountable, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a high-alert-volume environment

Preferred qualifications
  • Familiarity with AI security considerations, including data governance, third-party AI integration risks, and acceptable use policy frameworks
  • Experience with SAML/OIDC SSO configurations and enterprise app integrations in Entra ID
  • Familiarity with Huntress, Blumira, or Mimecast
  • Experience in a marketing transformation, professional services, or technology-driven environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Industry certifications such as CISSP, CompTIA Security+, CEH, GIAC, SC-200, or equivalent Microsoft or cloud security credentials
