What is a remote emotional support animal?

Remote Emotional Support Animals (ESAs) are pets that provide comfort and support to individuals with emotional or psychological conditions, but whose services or documentation are obtained through online platforms rather than in-person visits. People seeking an ESA typically connect with licensed mental health professionals virtually, who can evaluate their needs and, if appropriate, issue an ESA letter remotely. These animals are not service animals and do not require special training, but they help alleviate symptoms of anxiety, depression, PTSD, and other mental health issues. Remote ESAs are especially helpful for people who may not have easy access to in-person therapy or evaluations.

What are the daily responsibilities of a remote emotional support animal specialist?

As a Remote Emotional Support Animal Specialist, your daily tasks typically include conducting virtual assessments of clients and their pets, providing guidance on the process of obtaining ESA documentation, and offering ongoing support to clients regarding laws and best practices. You may also collaborate with mental health professionals to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations. Strong communication skills and attention to client confidentiality are essential, as much of your interaction will be online or over the phone.

About the Organization

Total Mental and Emotional Solutions is committed to transforming the mental health landscape by offering comprehensive, trauma-informed care. • Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans that address their unique mental health goals.
  • Facilitating regular therapy sessions, utilizing evidence-based practices to foster recovery.
  • Monitoring progress and adjusting treatment strategies based on patients' responses and feedback.
  • Educating patients and their families on trauma and stress coping mechanisms to enhance their understanding and self-management capabilities.
  • Coordinating with external social and medical agencies, and community outreach programs, ensuring patients have access to comprehensive care resources.
  • Participating in continuous education to maintain your National Certified Counselor certification and stay current with best practices in mental health care.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on supporting individuals who have experienced trauma injuries and are facing mental health challenges as a result. This patient population includes diverse backgrounds and experiences, emphasizing the need for a sensitive, adaptive counseling approach. Helping these patients navigate their trauma and achieve personal goals is central to our mission, and your role will be pivotal in fostering resilience and emotional recovery.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • A Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling or a closely related field.
  • A valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) credential.
  • A minimum of 3 years of professional experience working with trauma patients.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively engage with patients and team members.
Preferred Experience

While not mandatory, the following experience is highly desirable:

  • Familiarity with Salesforce and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems, facilitating patient management and documentation processes.
Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is competitively set at $80,000 to $100,000 annually, reflecting your expertise and contributions to the organization. In addition to an attractive salary, we offer a robust benefits package that includes:

  • Employee assistance program providing confidential support services to enhance mental health and well-being.
  • Wellness programs designed to foster a healthy lifestyle among employees.
  • Incentives for health maintenance and proactive healthcare practices.
  • Health savings accounts or flexible spending accounts for out-of-pocket healthcare expenses.
