Overview
PGTEK is seeking a Senior Mainframe Storage Administrator / Mainframe Infrastructure Engineer to support a large enterprise environment for a long-term customer engagement. This role is responsible for the administration, monitoring, maintenance, and optimization of IBM mainframe storage infrastructure across multiple data centers, ensuring high availability, performance, and disaster recovery readiness.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced mainframe storage professional with deep expertise in IBM z/OS storage environments and Dell EMC enterprise storage platforms.
Responsibilities
  • Administer and maintain enterprise IBM z/OS storage environments.
  • Monitor and optimize SMS pools, DASD utilization, HSM processes, and storage performance.
  • Manage EMC PowerMax, Data Domain, and DLM storage platforms.
  • Perform storage provisioning, volume initialization, catalog maintenance, and capacity planning.
  • Monitor storage health using CloudIQ, Unisphere, DLM Monitor, and DD Systems Monitor.
  • Support disaster recovery planning, testing, failover, and recovery operations across geographically distributed data centers.
  • Install, configure, and maintain storage management utilities, including:
    • DLM Utilities
    • MF Enablers
    • Solutions Enabler
    • GDDR
    • TapeCopy
    • Unisphere
  • Generate storage compliance and utilization reports, including IBM and Broadcom SCRT reporting.
  • Create and manage Change Requests and Incident tickets following ITIL best practices.
  • Partner with Dell engineering teams to coordinate hardware upgrades, maintenance, patching, and repairs.
  • Maintain technical documentation and operational procedures

Requirements
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Must be able to obtain a Postal Service clearance
  • 5+ years of IBM z/OS storage administration experience.
  • 5+ years of Dell EMC enterprise storage administration experience.
  • Strong experience with:
    • IBM z/OS
    • SMS
    • DASD
    • DFSMShsm (HSM)
    • JCL
    • TSO/ISPF
  • Hands-on experience administering:
    • Dell EMC PowerMax
    • Data Domain
    • DLM (Data Lifecycle Manager)
  • Experience using:
    • CloudIQ
    • Unisphere
    • DLM Monitor
    • DD Systems Monitor
  • Experience supporting enterprise disaster recovery operations.
  • Strong understanding of storage lifecycle management, replication, and enterprise backup technologies.
  • Experience working in large, mission-critical enterprise data center environments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting geographically dispersed enterprise data centers.
  • Familiarity with tape management and consolidation.
  • Experience with Broadcom and IBM mainframe software products.
  • Experience coordinating directly with Dell engineering teams.
  • ITIL Foundation certification or equivalent IT service management experience.
