Remote Emc Emi Test Engineer information

What is a remote EMC EMI test engineer?

Remote EMC EMI Test Engineers are professionals who specialize in evaluating and ensuring that electronic products meet electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and electromagnetic interference (EMI) standards. Working remotely, they use specialized equipment and software to conduct tests, analyze data, and help manufacturers comply with international regulations. Their work helps prevent electronic devices from causing or being affected by unwanted electromagnetic disturbances, ensuring safety and proper functioning. These engineers often collaborate with design teams, provide technical guidance, and prepare compliance documentation—all while working from a remote location.

What are some common challenges faced by remote EMC/EMI test engineers and how can they be addressed?

Remote EMC/EMI Test Engineers often encounter challenges such as coordinating with on-site teams, ensuring accurate data collection from a distance, and troubleshooting issues without direct physical access to equipment. These challenges can be addressed by establishing clear communication protocols, leveraging remote monitoring tools, and scheduling regular virtual meetings with local engineers. Proactively documenting test procedures and results also helps maintain quality and consistency across remote testing environments.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote EMC/EMI test engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote EMC/EMI Test Engineer, you need a solid background in electrical engineering, knowledge of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and electromagnetic interference (EMI) principles, and relevant industry standards such as CISPR and MIL-STD, often supported by a bachelor’s degree in engineering. Proficiency with EMC/EMI test equipment (e.g., spectrum analyzers, signal generators), experience with test management software, and certifications like iNARTE EMC Engineer are typically required. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for collaborating remotely with teams and clients. These skills ensure accurate testing, compliance with regulatory standards, and successful project delivery in a remote work environment.

What is the difference between Remote Emc Emi Test Engineer vs Remote Radio Frequency (RF) Test Engineer?

AspectRemote Emc Emi Test EngineerRemote Radio Frequency (RF) Test Engineer
CertificationsEMC/EMI testing certifications, e.g., CISSP, CE, or similarRF testing certifications, e.g., FCC, CE, or similar
Work EnvironmentLaboratories, manufacturing facilities, remote testing setupsLaboratories, field testing sites, remote RF measurement setups
Industry UsageElectronics, automotive, aerospace industries focusing on electromagnetic compatibilityWireless, telecommunications, consumer electronics industries focusing on radio frequency performance

The Remote Emc Emi Test Engineer primarily focuses on ensuring electronic devices meet electromagnetic compatibility standards, testing for emissions and immunity. In contrast, the Remote Radio Frequency (RF) Test Engineer specializes in measuring and analyzing radio frequency signals for wireless communication devices. While both roles require technical certifications and involve remote testing environments, their core focus areas differ—EMC/EMI testing versus RF performance testing.

Job description

Overview
The Systems Integrator provides senior-level systems engineering and integration support for complex simulation systems, with responsibility for coordinating, designing, integrating, testing, and sustaining hardware and software components within a unified simulation environment. This position combines advanced systems engineering skills with a strong software development background to ensure simulation systems, applications, interfaces, data flows, and supporting infrastructure operate together effectively and meet technical, operational, and mission objectives. The Systems Integrator works across software engineering, systems engineering, hardware engineering, networking, test, cybersecurity, and program management teams to support end-to-end integration of simulation capabilities throughout the lifecycle.
Responsibilities
  • Support integration of complex simulation systems, subsystems, software components, hardware elements, interfaces, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Apply senior systems engineering practices to support requirements analysis, architecture alignment, interface definition, technical baseline management, and end-to-end system integration.
  • Use software development knowledge to assess application behavior, interface logic, data exchange, middleware integration, and technical implementation issues within the simulation environment.
  • Coordinate integration activities across software developers, systems engineers, hardware engineers, network engineers, test personnel, and operational stakeholders.
  • Support development and maintenance of system architectures, interface definitions, integration plans, technical baselines, and verification approaches for simulation systems.
  • Analyze system interoperability, interface compatibility, performance issues, and integration risks across distributed simulation components.
  • Support software and system configuration management, version alignment, environment coordination, and release integration planning.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving complex integration issues involving software, hardware, networks, timing, data, and external system dependencies.
  • Support lab, test, staging, and operational environments used for simulation system integration and validation.
  • Participate in design reviews, integration working groups, test readiness activities, issue review boards, and technical interchange meetings.
  • Ensure simulation system components are integrated in accordance with program requirements, architectural standards, cybersecurity considerations, and operational use cases.
  • Support system verification, validation, regression testing, and transition activities.
  • Prepare technical documentation, integration status reports, risk assessments, and recommendations for engineering and program leadership.
  • Provide senior technical guidance on integration strategy, issue resolution, and engineering tradeoffs.

THIS HYBRID POSITION REQUIRES 3 DAYS OF WORK IN THE OFFICE AND 2 DAYS REMOTE PER WEEK
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Secret Clearance
  • Significant experience in systems engineering, systems integration, or software integration for complex technical systems.
  • Experience supporting simulation systems, training systems, modeling and simulation environments, or similarly integrated technical platforms.
  • Strong background in software development, software integration, or application engineering.
  • Experience with requirements analysis, interface management, architecture alignment, and technical baseline control.
  • Experience troubleshooting integration issues across software, hardware, network, and system boundaries.
  • Understanding of system lifecycle processes including design, integration, test, deployment, and sustainment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary engineering and program teams.
