Position Title: Senior Software Engineer

Trident Optical Precision Systems (OPS) is a leader in highly capable remote lidar sensors for austere environments. We have over 35 years of experience designing, developing, manufacturing and servicing advanced lidar products to solve our military and commercial customers' most challenging remote-sensing needs.
Position Summary
Trident OPS is looking for a Senior Software Engineer. The Senior Software Engineer is responsible for the Software Development Life Cycle of real-time object-oriented applications on both Department of Defense and Commercial optical lidar systems. This position requires a background in all facets of performing software engineering design, analysis and testing of software engineering projects and products.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Software requirements definition; architectural and detail design; coding; unit, integration and system level qualification testing; support design reviews, peer reviews and generate documentation
  • Design and implement software of embedded devices and systems from requirements to production and commercial deployment
  • Perform software configuration management
  • Interface with multi-disciplines; Engineering, Production, Research & Development
  • Analyze and enhance efficiency, stability, and scalability of system resources
  • Support software QA and optimize I/O performance
  • Provide postproduction support
  • Interface with hardware design and development
  • Assess third party and open-source software
  • Plan, develop, and direct larger technical component design with many complex features
  • Coach and review the work of lower-level professionals
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics or related technical field with a minimum of 6+ years' experience, or a Master's degree with a minimum of 4+ years' experience, or in lieu of a degree 10+ years' experience.
  • Experience with C/C++, Python software languages, development tools, and integrated development environments (IDEs); Wind River Tornado or Work Bench experience preferred.
  • Experience with object-oriented designs
  • Experience in embedded systems design with preemptive, multitasking real-time operating systems (RTOS)
  • Familiarity with software configuration management tools, defect tracking tools, and peer reviews
  • Thorough understanding of Software life cycle
  • Working knowledge of OS/Embedded coding techniques, IP protocols, interfaces, and hardware subsystems
  • Ability to read schematics and data sheets for components and understanding of hardware interfaces
  • Experience with MS Office tools and doing presentations
  • An active U.S. Government Security Clearance or the ability to obtain one.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Defect tracking; JIRA
  • Experience with Source Control S/W tools, i.e. Bitbucket
  • Familiarity with Wind River and Linux
  • Experience with Secure Boot and Encryption techniques
  • Familiarity with interfacing communications buses such as PCIe, PCMCIA, and VPX is a plus
  • Experience with ADA programming
  • Comfortable interfacing with Customer
  • Aerospace industry experience
  • Familiarity with Software Quality and AS9100 requirements
  • Proposal Development - BOE's and time estimates experience.
