Job description

Job Summary:
Associate level Electrical Engineer. Performs engineering work in the initial planning and design phases of projects. This includes engineering/design for power distribution systems, lighting systems, grounding systems, lightning protection systems, backup power supply systems, instrumentation, controls, and fire detection/alarming. Perform studies and technical activities to arrive at the most cost effective, reliable technical solution. May also support procurement and construction phases or projects with engineering knowledge and experience.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop conceptual design, perform calculations, and perform system studies.
  • Develop detailed electrical drawings.
  • Ensure conformance to applicable engineering codes and standards as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate with and consult other Engineers and Designers to engineer, lay out, or detail components and systems and to resolve technical and other issues.

Secondary Responsibilities
  • Collect and interpret engineering data, compile data for project reports, collect and compile field data as required, assist in proposal efforts as directed, document technical data for management review, provide other entry level duties as assigned, assist with preparation of labor/material estimates and design packages for clients.
  • Is aware of costs and schedule related to own work.
  • Organizes own work to meet deadlines set by others.
  • Communicates information, asks questions, and checks for understanding.
  • Contributes to a team environment.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from ABET accredited school.
  • Has 2 -- 5 years related experience
  • Has basic knowledge of theories, practices and procedures in electrical engineering.
  • Strong computer skills with Office products (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Training and/or experience with CADD (AutoCAD, REVIT, and/or MicroStation, etc.).
  • Good verbal and writing skills.
  • Factory, field, and/or construction experience a plus.
  • Practical electrical skills a plus.
  • Familiarity with NEC, IEEE, NFPA, and ANSI codes and standards a plus.
  • Candidates must be willing to travel for infrequent field assignments.

Compensation depends on several factors including: experience, education, key skills, geographic location of the position, client requirements, external market competitiveness, and internal equity among other employees within APTIM.
