RRC is seeking a talented Electrical Engineer IV - Substation to help us build the future of both U.S. and Canada energy production from both remote work locations and any one of our U.S. or Canadian office locations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the development and review of deliverables including equipment layouts, grounding systems, bus configurations, conduct and cable schedules, and general arrangement drawings
  • Perform and oversee engineering calculations (grounding analysis, cable sizing, voltage drop, fault current, and equipment ratings)
  • Lead equipment selection, specification development, and vendor drawing reviews
  • Prepare, review, and approve design packages and technical documentation
  • Coordinate across multidisciplinary teams including engineering, design, and project management
  • Perform and oversee quality control reviews to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance of deliverables
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, and budget
  • Ensure all designs comply with applicable industry codes and standards (IEEE, NEC, NESC, ANSI)
  • Interface directly with clients to support project development, resolve technical issues, and present engineering solutions
  • Support proposal development, scope definition, and project planning efforts
  • Conduct site visits, field inspections, and provide construction support as needed

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Engineering, or related field
  • Masterโ€™s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Engineering, or related field preferred
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • 8+ years of experience in power delivery (transmission and distribution systems for utilities or industrial), renewable energy, or power generation
  • Demonstrated experience leading substation design projects and mentoring junior staff
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, and electrical analysis software (ETAP, CYME, SKM, PSCAD)
  • Strong knowledge of industry codes and standards (IEEE, NESC, NEC, ANSI)
  • Proven leadership, project management, and decision-making skills
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with client-facing experience
  • Excellent computer skills; proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook with advanced MS Office skills
  • Experience with PVcase, PVCAD a plus
  • Knowledge of renewable energy industry relating to utility scale wind and solar projects, such as MV power systems and AC/DC distribution system a plus
  • Experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems a plus
  • Manufacturer experience of power transformer, circuit breaker, AIS/GIS switchgear, AC/DC inverter, etc.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
