JOB TITLE: Electrical Designer (Construction)

DEPARTMENT: Electrical Power Solutions

SUPERVISOR: SVP of Engineering, Design, and Construction or Engineering Manager


SUMMARY:


Lightserve Electrical Power Solutions (EPS) is a division of Lightserve Corporation that specializes in electrical projects in the areas of lighting systems, electrical distribution, and standby generation. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electrical Designer to design electrical projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, excellent communication skills, a deep understanding of electrical distribution equipment, and strong project management methodologies. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while ensuring that projects are completed on time and within scope.

This position must conform to all corporate policies and procedures and uphold ethical standards. This position will embody Lightserve' s core values, exemplifying them with the utmost integrity. Employee will represent Lightserve and their department with the highest regard in both external and internal communications, ensuring a standard of excellence in all interactions.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Coordinate with estimating team for proposal stage evaluations and prepare associated proposal drawings and scopes of work.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation associated with electrical projects ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards. Prepare associated drawing and specifications.
  • Coordinate with external stakeholders such as customers, vendors, AHJs, and others to ensure proper scope of work.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders such as estimators, project managers, and procurement to ensure scope of work is understood and is support of construction requirements.
  • Responsible for designing electrical systems and performing calculations for review by others.
  • Participate in reviews of other engineer's work in the division.
  • Some travel is required to meet with vendors, customers, and review project sites.
  • Manage risk by identifying potential issues early on and developing mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards throughout the construction process.
  • Additional job duties/responsibilities as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:


Education and Certifications:

  • High School Diploma

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years electrical design experience in construction industry.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement projects effectively while managing time constraints and resource allocation.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Analyze system requirements to ensure compliance with national and local codes, such as NEC, NFPA, and IEEE standards.
  • Experience with UL 891 Switchboards and UL 1008 Transfer Switches.
  • Design and modeling lighting photometrics.
  • Experience coordinating with utility requirements.
  • Knowledge of construction processes, materials, and regulations is required.
  • Ability to travel, occasionally overnight.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Electrical engineering degree.
  • Experience with generation and microgrid systems.
  • Experience with utility interconnection processes.
  • Proficient in SKM (or similar) and systems coordination.
