Job description

Location: Full-Time Remote (Open to candidates residing in Atlanta, Tampa, Charlotte, Raleigh, or Columbia)

Position Overview

Fisher Phillips is on a growth trajectory and is seeking a dynamic and strategic Communications Specialist to continue the momentum with firmwide communications activities designed to increase visibility, enhance reputation and elevate our brand story.

You will play a key part in our Marketing and Communications function to shape and execute communication strategy across channels.

This role requires a proactive team player with sharp organizational skills, who works independently and collaboratively across a matrixed organization.

Candidates must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, exercise discretion and independent judgement, and capable of managing multiple priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop communications strategies that drive the firm’s brand awareness through digital content, attorney biographies, case studies, awards and submissions, and other communications platforms and channels.
  • Own and manage the full creation and distribution life cycle for communications deliverables—from intake, editorial development, review, and approval through final distribution—making independent decisions on messaging, timing, and channel selection.
  • Develop and maintain the firm’s positioning, messaging, and voice/style/brand guidelines, exercising discretion to set and uphold communications standards firmwide.
  • Determine strategy and positioning for firm’s submissions to key awards, rankings, and directories, including Chambers, Legal 500, and similar publications,
  • Serve as a brand steward, making independent judgments on quality, accuracy, consistency, and adherence to brand standards across all firm communications.
  • Plan and manage the communications calendar and content workflow, prioritizing initiatives and making decisions on resource allocation and timely delivery across all communications channels.
  • Advise and collaborate with attorneys, firm leadership, and marketing colleagues, guiding revision and feedback processes and making independent recommendations on communications strategy.
  • Partner on cross-functional initiatives with the broader Marketing, Communications, Business Development, and Marketing Technology teams, contributing independent judgment to advance the firm’s marketing and business development objectives.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
  • At least 5+ years of marketing or communications experience
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving and project-management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Flexibility to work outside normal business hours based on scheduled projects and firm needs.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and prioritize competing responsibilities.
  • Ability to work within a collaborative team environment and develop cross-functional relationships.
  • Ability to work effectively and achieve results in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred

  • Experience in a law firm or other professional services organization.
  • Understanding of marketing technologies, including marketing automation tools, CRM systems, and experience management tools.
  • Experience with website content management systems (CMS).
  • Exposure to rankings and directory submission processes (e.g., Chambers, Legal 500).
  • Familiarity with design tools.
