Job description

Who We Are
Founded in 1971, Delta is a global leader in power electronics and energy-efficient solutions, delivering advanced switching power supplies, thermal management systems, and critical infrastructure technologies.
With operations across five continents and nearly 200 global locations, Delta supports industries including data center infrastructure, industrial automation, telecom power, renewable energy, and EV charging.
Guided by our mission - "To provide innovative, clean, and energy-efficient solutions for a better tomorrow" - Delta combines engineering excellence with a strong commitment to sustainability and long-term value creation.
Position Overview
Location: East Coast/Washington, D.C. (Open to Remote w/Travel)
Reports to: VP Energy Infrastructure SBP
Work Authorization: This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without the need for current or future sponsorship.
The Director of Microgrid Business Development and Policy will serve as Delta's primary U.S. commercial and policy strategist for the Microgrid segment. This role will develop and execute federal and state advocacy strategies that reduce barriers to microgrid deployment, unlock federal/state incentives, and position Delta's integrated solution stack (PV + storage + controls + EVCS) as essential to AI-driven power demand and grid decarbonization.
The successful candidate will simultaneously cultivate high-value partnerships with utilities, data center operators, hyperscalers, C&I customers, and public-sector stakeholders. Success will be measured by the expansion of new microgrid opportunities, key policy wins that improve project economics, new strategic alliances, and measurable pipeline enablement for the core sales teams.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Partnerships & Business Development Enablement
  • Identify, initiate, and cultivate strategic partnerships with investor-owned utilities, municipal co-ops, data center/hyperscaler operators, large C&I customers, developers, and EPCs.
  • Support regional business development efforts by providing policy intelligence, funding-stack optimization strategies, regulatory risk assessments, and coalition-building support for RFPs and major projects.
  • Represent Delta in relevant industry associations and standards bodies (e.g., ACP, SEIA, ESA, IEEE microgrid/DER groups, UL) to influence favorable standards, interconnection rules, and market frameworks.
  • Explore and advance public-private partnerships, DOE/DoD demonstration or pilot opportunities, and state-level microgrid resilience programs.

Policy Strategy & Federal/State Advocacy
  • Develop and lead a comprehensive U.S. policy agenda for microgrids, with an emphasis on energy storage integration, behind-the-meter generation, grid resilience, interconnection reform, Virtual Power Plants (VPPs), and utility-microgrid business models.
  • Monitor and analyze developments across Congress, DOE, FERC, Treasury (IRA implementation, domestic content/FEOC rules), DoD (installation energy resilience programs), and state legislatures/PUCs.
  • Prepare high-quality briefs, comments on rulemakings, testimony, and meeting materials; represent Delta in hearings, stakeholder workshops, and coalitions.
  • Advocate for policies that expand eligibility or improve economics for microgrid components under §45X, §48/§48E Investment Tax Credits (including domestic content bonuses), and IIJA grid resilience funding programs.

Government Funding, Incentives & Thought Leadership
  • Track and help pursue federal or state funding opportunities (DOE FOAs, loans, grants) and advise internal teams and customers on incentive stacking and tax credit qualifications.
  • Develop internal policy playbooks, competitive intelligence briefs, and commercial training to equip technical and sales teams.
  • Serve as a visible industry thought leader representing Delta at major conferences (RE+, DistribuTECH, Data Center World, ACP RECHARGE, etc.).

Internal Leadership & Global Coordination
  • Provide strategic counsel to Energy Infrastructure and Microgrid Solutions leadership on high-value project opportunities and U.S. market expansion strategies.
  • Collaborate effectively with global HQ teams to share U.S. regulatory environment updates and structural policy learnings.
  • Support U.S. manufacturing or supply-chain policy strategies aligned with Delta's growing North American footprint.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 15+ years of senior-level experience in business development of government entities, public policy advocacy, or strategic partnerships within clean energy, power/utilities, energy storage, distributed energy resources (DERs), or advanced manufacturing sectors.
  • Proven success driving new project developments or securing key policy wins that directly improved market access or project economics for energy technologies.
  • Extensive, hands-on experience engaging the DOE, FERC, DoD, state energy offices, regulatory commissions, and major clean energy industry associations.
  • Proven ability to operate effectively at the intersection of policy and commercial objectives, translating regulatory developments into active sales pipeline and revenue-generating activities.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and executive communication skills; ability to produce concise, high-impact briefs for senior internal and external executives.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically (approximately 30-50%) and occasionally internationally.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Direct experience working with utilities, government entities, or microgrid/DER interconnection frameworks.
  • Familiarity with U.S. energy resilience initiatives, critical infrastructure policy, or federal facility procurement (DoD/GSA).
  • Deep understanding of utility rate design, standby charges, export compensation, and partnership structures that enable behind-the-meter microgrid deployment.
