Maximus' Learning and Organizational Development (L&OD) function is seeking a Sr. Specialist, AI & Technical Upskilling (remote) to help build the AI and technical skills our employees need to thrive in a rapidly evolving workforce.
This role designs, coordinates, and continuously improves scalable learning solutions that help employees build practical AI and technical skills, use emerging technologies responsibly, and apply learning directly to their work. The Sr. Specialist partners with business stakeholders, subject matter experts, HR partners, technology teams, vendors, and learning contributors to translate skill needs into clear learning pathways, high-quality assets, practical reinforcement, and measurable outcomes.
This role is ideal for a learning professional who brings strong instructional design judgment, curiosity about AI and emerging technology, stakeholder confidence, and program execution discipline.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Execute the development and implementation of learning assets through close collaboration with the Training Operations Team.
- Use training technology to help provide creative and scalable training solutions.
- Help to develop and support the implementation of the LMS learning strategy and measurement of that strategy for the organization.
- Support LMS system audits.
- Create and document processes for learning solutions, architecture decisions and operating procedures.
- Work in partnership with the HRIS team to support LMS system updates.
- Work with vendor to secure and onboard new learning technologies for delivering, tracking, and/or creating learning content.
- Consult and collaborate with leaders at all levels as well as cross-functional stakeholders to and provide learning solutions using the LMS functionalities.
- Define support LMS system roles and permissions.
- Support and advise on overall system configuration and availability groups.
- Support and train Global system Super Users and Admin.
JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Design & Development
- Support the design, development, and continuous improvement of enterprise AI and technical upskilling programs, including foundational AI literacy, responsible AI use, role-based technical learning, and applied learning experiences.
- Design and draft instructionally sound storyboards that translate complex AI and technical topics into eLearning, instructor-led, virtual, and blended learning formats.
- Develop and maintain learning pathways, job aids, facilitator guides, learner communications, discussion guides, practice activities, and reinforcement resources.
- Create practical learning scenarios that help employees recognize appropriate AI use cases, evaluate risks, improve prompts, validate outputs, and decide where human judgment is required.
- Apply adult learning principles, accessibility practices, and plain-language standards to make learning approachable, usable, and inclusive.
AI & Learning Technology
- Translate AI, automation, data, and technical concepts into clear, practical learning content employees can apply in real work scenarios.
- Contribute to responsible AI learning by ensuring content reinforces approved tools, data handling expectations, human oversight, privacy considerations, and organizational guidance.
Stakeholder Partnership & Change
- Partner with subject matter experts, business stakeholders, HR partners, change leads, and technology teams to identify skill needs, define learning objectives, and shape learning experiences that align to business priorities.
- Support external technical certification pathways and vendor-delivered learning offerings by helping assess fit, coordinate implementation, and monitor learner progress.
- Coordinate program logistics, content updates, facilitator preparation, vendor collaboration, communications, learner support, and delivery readiness across virtual, in-person, and blended formats.
- Maintain AI and technical learning materials as tools, models, policies, and workforce needs evolve.
Measurement & Continuous Improvement
- Support skills gap analysis and needs assessment work by gathering stakeholder input, reviewing learning data, and translating findings into recommended learning priorities.
- Use LMS data, survey feedback, assessments, and other learning analytics to evaluate participation, learner experience, behavior change, and program improvement opportunities.
- Recommend process improvements that make AI and technical upskilling programs more scalable, measurable, and easier for employees and leaders to adopt.
- Adhere to established safety standards and perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree and 5+ years of experience required
- Five (5) or more years of experience in the area of Learning & Development and Learning Management Systems administration required (preferable CSOD).
- Three (3) or more years of experience supporting a global/complex instance of the Learning Management System Cornerstone OnDemand (CSOD).
- Experience working on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of the company.
- Ability to regularly interact with senior leaders and executives.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and translate business performance gaps into learning and development strategies.
JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES:
-Five (5) or more years of experience in Corporate Learning & Development
-Experience designing technical training and supporting certification strategy for technical audiences.
-Foundational understanding of AI concepts, LLMs, prompt engineering, and responsible AI practices, with the ability to translate these into learning content.
-Experience designing, drafting, and developing storyboards for learning solutions, including eLearning, instructor-led training, virtual learning, and blended formats.
-Demonstrated ability to identify learning needs and translate them into practical learning solutions.
-Experience navigating complex organizational environments and partnering with stakeholders across functions.
Preferred Qualifications:
The following qualifications are helpful but not required. Candidates are not expected to meet every preferred qualification.
Design & Development
-Strong understanding of instructional design principles and adult learning theory (e.g., ADDIE, Rapid Course Development).
-Experience developing learning assets across multiple formats, including eLearning, ILT, Virtual ILT, job aids, presentations, discussion guides, and performance support resources.
-Experience applying visual design principles to create polished, accessible materials such as slide decks, infographics, and quick reference guides.
-Strong writing, editing, facilitation, and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex topics in plain language for different audiences.
AI & Learning Technology
-Experience designing, coordinating, or improving enterprise learning programs related to AI, technical skills, digital transformation, automation, data literacy, or emerging technologies.
-Proficiency with Canva, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Copilot, SharePoint, and Teams.
Stakeholder Partnership & Change
-Proven ability to partner with SMEs and cross-functional teams to gather content, clarify objectives, and align to business needs.
-Experience coordinating vendors, facilitators, internal contributors, and learning operations partners to deliver programs on time and with consistent quality.
Measurement & Continuous Improvement
-Experience supporting skills gap analyses and needs assessments.
-Ability to translate skills requirements into clear learning objectives, learning pathways, and program components.
-Experience using learning data, surveys, assessments, and learner feedback to identify opportunities for improvement.
-Demonstrated ability to manage multiple workstreams, competing priorities, and deadlines while maintaining quality and stakeholder confidence.
-Curiosity and continuous learning mindset related to AI, data, automation, learning technology, and future skills.
