Job description

Interested in joining ANSER as a Technical Editor or Technical Writer, but don't see a current opening that matches your experience?

We'd still love to connect with you! Please send us your resume, and we'll keep your information on file for future opportunities that align with your background and skills.

As a Technical Editor or Writer at ANSER, you'll support our teams by developing, reviewing, and refining technical documentation that communicates complex information clearly and accurately to a range of audiences, including government clients, internal stakeholders, and external partners.

Most roles are in the greater Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C. area and require on-site work five days a week. Some roles may allow for hybrid or remote work however that is on a case-by-case situation and is not applicable to most opportunities.

General Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Write, edit, and format a wide range of technical documents including reports, manuals, briefings, white papers, proposals, and policy documents.
  • Review content for clarity, grammar, consistency, and adherence to style guides and formatting standards.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), analysts, and project teams to translate complex technical concepts into user-friendly content.
  • Ensure all deliverables are accurate, professional, and aligned with organizational and client standards.
  • Manage multiple editing and writing projects under tight deadlines while maintaining quality and accuracy.
  • Maintain version control and documentation workflows using collaborative editing and document management tools.
  • Apply plain language principles and follow federal writing guidelines when appropriate.

General Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, or a related field. Additional years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 3+ years of experience writing or editing technical content, preferably in support of government, defense, or intelligence programs.
  • Strong command of grammar, usage, and editing conventions, with an eye for detail.
  • Experience working with style guides (e.g., Chicago Manual of Style, APA, or in-house templates).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant writing/editing tools (e.g., Adobe Acrobat, SharePoint, LaTeX, or XML-based editors).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Active security clearance or the ability to obtain one may be required depending on the position.
