What does a remote district manager do?

A Remote District Manager typically relies on a combination of regular virtual meetings, performance tracking tools, and clear communication channels to manage teams spread across various locations. Building strong relationships with on-site managers is key; this often involves scheduled check-ins and responsive support to address challenges quickly. Remote District Managers also use data-driven insights to monitor store or branch performance and identify areas for coaching or improvement. While travel is less frequent than in traditional roles, occasional site visits may still be necessary to maintain rapport and ensure standards are met.

A Remote District Manager is a professional responsible for overseeing the operations, performance, and staff of multiple locations or stores within a specific geographic district, all while working remotely. They manage teams, set targets, ensure compliance with company policies, and strive to meet sales or service goals across their district. Communication, leadership, and organization are key, as they coordinate with local managers and report to higher-level executives. The remote aspect allows them to perform these duties without being physically present at each site, often utilizing technology to stay connected and monitor operations.

Exceptional communication, self-motivation, and problem-solving skills are crucial to effectively oversee teams and operations from a distance. These skills and qualities ensure efficient remote management, consistent performance, and the ability to drive results across dispersed locations.

Job description

With millions of diners, 60,000+ restaurant partners and 25+ years of experience, OpenTable, part of Booking Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: BKNG), is an industry leader with a passion for helping restaurants thrive. Our world-class technology empowers restaurants to focus on what matters most - their team, their guests, and their bottom line - while enabling diners to discover and book the perfect restaurant for every occasion.ย

Every employee at OpenTable has a tangible impact on what we do and how we do it. You'll also be part of a global team and its portfolio of metasearch brands. Hospitality is all about taking care of others, and it defines our culture.

About the job

The Senior District Manager, Miami leads sales strategy and execution across two of OpenTable's key dining markets. In this role, you will own revenue, customer growth, and retention while leading a high-performing team of account executives and account managers to meet regional targets. Leveraging your established hospitality industry relationships with restaurateurs and chefs, you will develop local partnerships, expand market share, and elevate brand awareness on both the consumer and restaurant sides. As a hands-on leader, you will set clear goals, drive engagement with top customers and prospects, and represent OpenTable as the partner of choice across both markets.

Responsibilities
  • Own revenue, customer growth, and retention across the Miami market through new sales acquisition and account expansion.
  • Build, develop, and nurture a high-performing sales team, proactively managing performance to consistently exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual targets.
  • Develop local partnerships and community relationships that grow market share and build brand awareness for both consumers and restaurants.
  • Leverage existing relationships with restaurateurs, chefs, and hospitality leaders to establish OpenTable as the premier platform in both markets.
  • Engage directly in the field by spending significant time in-market, participating in customer meetings, and supporting team events.
  • Formulate and execute comprehensive territory strategies, delivering accurate sales forecasts and insights to leadership.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 8 years of sales or account management experience within the hospitality, restaurant, or technology industry.
  • 5 years of experience managing and developing high-performing sales or customer success teams.
  • Established professional network and relationships with restaurateurs, chefs, and hospitality leaders in the Miami market.
  • Proven track record of owning revenue targets and executing successful territory growth strategies.
  • Ability to travel frequently and maintain a consistent, active presence within the assigned local markets.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Deep operational knowledge of restaurant management software, reservation platforms, or front-of-house hospitality technology.
  • Experience leading geographically dispersed or multi-market sales teams across major hospitality hubs.
  • Strong background in local community engagement, partnership development, or brand building within the food and beverage industry.
  • Exceptional relationship-building, forecasting, and data-driven strategy execution skills.
  • Professional fluency or proficiency in Spanish is highly preferred
Benefits and Perks
  • Work from (almost) anywhere for up to 20 days per year
  • Focus on mental health and well-being:
    • Company-paid therapy sessions through SpringHealth
    • Company-paid subscription to Headspace
    • Annual company-wide week off a year - the whole team fully recharges (and returns without a pile-up of work!)
  • Paid parental leave
  • Generous paid vacation + time off for your birthday
  • Paid volunteer time
  • Focus on your career growth:
    • Development Dollars
    • Leadership development
    • Access to thousands of on-demand e-learnings
  • Travel Discounts
  • Employee Resource Groups
  • Competitive retirement and health plans

Note for MA applicants: It is unlawful in Massachusetts to require or administer a lie detector test as a condition of employment or continued employment. An employer who violates this law shall be subject to criminal penalties and civil liability.

There are a variety of factors that go into determining a salary range, including but not limited to external market benchmark data, geographic location, and years of experience sought/required. The range for this United States based role is $145,000-$160,000 plus quarterly sales bonus.

We offer a competitive base salary and benefits including: health benefits; flexible spending account; retirement benefits; life insurance; paid time off (including PTO, paid sick leave, medical leave, bereavement leave, floating holidays and paid holidays); and parental leave benefits. This role is eligible to be considered for an annual equity grant.

Work Environment & Flexibility

At OpenTable, we pride ourselves on fostering a global and dynamic work environment. As a team member with us, you will benefit from a schedule tailored to accommodate a global workforce operating across multiple time zones. While the majority of your responsibilities may align with conventional business hours, there will be instances where you are expected to manage communications - via calls, Slack messages, or emails - outside of regular working hours to effectively collaborate with international colleagues, respond to restaurant partners, and/or address urgent matters. OpenTable will always abide by and consider local laws and regulations.

Inclusion

We're committed to creating a workplace where everyone feels they belong and can thrive. We know the best ideas come when we bring different voices to the table, so we're building a team as dynamic as the diners and restaurants we serve-and fostering a culture where everyone feels welcome to be themselves.

If you need accommodations during the application or interview process, or on the job, we're here to support you. Please reach out to your recruiter to request any accommodations.
