Job description

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Principal Backend / Platform Engineer (Cybersecurity) in Netherlands.

This is an exceptional opportunity to join a high-impact engineering environment focused on building next-generation cybersecurity solutions that protect users from sophisticated social engineering threats. In this role, you will take ownership of the cloud-side architecture for a privacy-first platform combining real-time analysis, scalable infrastructure, and advanced backend systems. You will work on complex distributed systems, data pipelines, and low-latency processing architectures designed to operate securely and reliably at scale. The position offers a high degree of technical ownership and autonomy, allowing you to influence architectural decisions, platform reliability, and long-term product evolution. Collaborating with a globally distributed team of experienced engineers, you will help shape innovative cybersecurity technologies in a flexible, remote-first environment focused on engineering excellence and continuous growth.

Accountabilities:
  • Own and drive the end-to-end architecture of the cloud platform, ensuring scalability, reliability, performance, and maintainability
  • Design and implement real-time, low-latency detection pipelines that support secure communication between client-side systems and cloud infrastructure
  • Build and maintain scalable data ingestion and processing systems with high data integrity and seamless integration with ML-enabled workflows
  • Develop backend services, APIs, internal tooling, and multi-tenant control-plane systems with strong RBAC and auditability standards
  • Design and enforce privacy-first system architectures that securely process sensitive data while minimizing unnecessary storage
  • Manage and optimize cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code practices within Microsoft Azure environments
  • Establish observability standards, monitoring frameworks, and reliability best practices across the platform
  • Lead platform security initiatives including infrastructure hardening, supply chain security, and secure system design principles
  • Collaborate closely with engineering leadership and cross-functional teams to guide technical strategy and architectural decisions
Requirements:
  • Strong experience designing and building distributed backend systems and scalable cloud-native architectures
  • Deep expertise with cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure, including infrastructure design and operational best practices
  • Hands-on experience with databases such as PostgreSQL and Redis in high-performance production environments
  • Proven experience building real-time processing systems, event-driven architectures, or large-scale data pipelines
  • Strong understanding of security, privacy, and secure software design principles within cloud-based systems
  • Ability to independently own complex technical initiatives and drive architecture decisions with minimal oversight
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, and modern observability and monitoring practices
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity products, privacy-sensitive applications, or regulated environments is highly valued
  • Exposure to ML/AI-supported systems and integrations is considered a plus
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills within remote and distributed engineering teams
  • Experience designing multi-tenant SaaS platforms or streaming architectures is an advantage
Benefits:
  • Competitive compensation package including paid vacation and sick leave
  • Fully remote work environment with flexible working hours
  • Generous home office and equipment allowance
  • Option to access coworking spaces or office facilities when preferred
  • Opportunity to work alongside globally recognized engineering talent on complex technical challenges
  • Startup-style culture focused on innovation, autonomy, and engineering excellence
  • Strong opportunities for professional development and long-term career growth
  • No business travel required, supporting work-life flexibility and remote collaboration
