Job description

Life Unlimited. At Smith+Nephew we design and manufacture technology that takes the limits off living.
This role will develop reporting and tools to support US Logistics, Inventory Audit, Supply Chain and Commercial teams. The position will work within the Logistics Reporting and Analytics team to gather stakeholder requirements, establish data sources, develop and present solution to all levels of the business. This role will be a key player in migrating a legacy Microsoft Access-based solution to a modern, scalable Mendix low-code platform and further develop front-end tools connecting to our Snowflake Data to provide accurate, on-time data to our internal customers. Ideal applicant will possess an analytical mindset and drive to develop solutions with minimal direction.
What will you be doing?
Application Migration & Development
  • Analyze existing MS Access application (tables, forms, queries, reports, VBA code)
  • Design and build Mendix applications (both low-code and pro-code)
  • Translate VBA logic into Mendix microflows, nanoflows, and custom Java action
  • Ensure scalability, security, and performance best practices

Data & Backend Integration
  • Develop and optimize SQL queries against Snowflake
  • Design data models aligned with existing Snowflake schemas
  • Ensure data integrity, performance, and controlled access

Reporting & Analytics
  • Build and maintain Power BI dashboards connected to Snowflake and/or Mendix
  • Work with stakeholders to convert legacy reports into modern interactive dashboards
  • Support enhancements and change requests to analytics models

Stakeholder Engagement & Support
  • Collaborate with architects, business users, and analysts to gather requirements
  • Support UAT, issue resolution, and post-go-live enhancements

Documentation & Governance
  • Maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and migration notes
  • Follow enterprise security, architecture, and SDLC standards

What will you need to be successful?
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on application development experience
  • Strong experience with Mendix low-code platform
  • Pro-code experience using Java within Mendix
  • Strong SQL expertise with Snowflake or similar cloud data platforms
  • Solid experience with Microsoft Access (tables, queries, forms, reports)
  • Strong VBA development and refactoring experience
  • Experience designing and developing Power BI dashboards
  • Understanding of REST APIs, integrations, and authentication mechanisms
  • Experience migrating legacy systems to low-code platforms (Preferred)
  • Exposure to enterprise ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, etc.) (Preferred)
  • Experience in regulated industries (medical devices, life sciences, healthcare) (Preferred)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD, Git, and DevOps practices for Mendix (Preferred)

The anticipated base compensation range for this position is $66,750 - $110,000 USD annually.
The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role at Smith + Nephew. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
