Director of Demand Generation

Job description

InfluxData is the creator of InfluxDB, the leading time series platform used to collect, store, and analyze all time series data at any scale. Developers can query and analyze their time-stamped data in real-time to discover, interpret, and share new insights to gain a competitive edge. InfluxData is a remote-first company with a globally distributed workforce. For more information, visit www.influxdata.com.

InfluxData is looking for a Director of Demand Generation to own how we build and convert pipeline. We're a dual-funnel business, with a PLG motion for developers adopting InfluxDB OSS, and an enterprise sales motion for technical buyers evaluating InfluxDB to manage their time series data at scale. This role owns the strategy that makes both funnels work as one engine and generates the fuel for our Sales machine.

This is a high-visibility player-coach role. You'll lead a small team and agency partners, but you're also in the work; running campaigns, drafting creative, and digging into the data, not just reviewing dashboards from a distance. You'll report to the VP of Growth and work closely with Content, Web, Product Marketing, Communications, and SDR leadership to turn awareness into qualified pipeline.

Our audience is especially AI-fluent, and more of our technical buyers are finding us through AI assistants and generative search before they ever run a Google search. We want someone who understands this shifting landscape and actually uses AI day to day, building workflows and automation that let a lean team punch above its weight.

What you'll be doing
  • Own our demand gen strategy - the multi-channel campaign engine (paid, email, webinars, sponsorships, ABX) that drives pipeline across both our PLG and enterprise motions.

  • Build and scale ABX programs against priority verticals (IIoT/manufacturing, energy, fintech, aerospace) in partnership with Sales.

  • Lead and develop a small team - set clear expectations, push people to grow, and build a function they thrive in, plus manage agency and contractor relationships.

  • Own the pipeline target and the model behind it - channel mix, spend allocation, conversion rates, stage-by-stage targets.

  • Partner cross-functionally - with PMM and Content on campaign messaging, Web on landing pages and conversion paths, and SDR leadership on lead handoff and feedback loops.

  • Use AI and automation to make the team more efficient — campaign builds, personalization, reporting — so we scale output without scaling headcount at the same rate.

  • Track AI-driven discovery trends - how AI search is reshaping top-of-funnel behavior for technical buyers, and bring that into channel strategy.

  • Own and defend the demand gen budget

What we're looking for
  • 10+ years in B2B SaaS demand generation or growth marketing, including 3+ years leading a team

  • Experience marketing to technical audiences, and comfort being in rooms where people build things you don't necessarily build yourself

  • A track record running both PLG and enterprise GTM motions, ideally at the same company.

  • You build with AI as a default in your own work, using it to design workflows, automate campaign and reporting work, and move faster than headcount alone would allow.

  • Fluency with a modern marketing/sales stack, like Marketo, Salesforce, Qualified, and Clay, and a data-driven approach you can defend to sales and executive leadership.

  • Strong sense of ownership; you don't wait for a playbook. You see a gap, build the solution, and ship it.

Bonus points for…
  • Experience marketing an open source product

  • Working knowledge of GEO/AEO/AI search and how it's changing content and demand strategy

  • Background in time series, observability, IoT, or adjacent infrastructure/data categories

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis.
