Job description

A leading national ambulatory surgery network is seeking a Director of Compensation to lead and scale compensation strategy across a large, multi-site healthcare organization. This role will oversee compensation programs impacting a workforce of approximately 20,000 employees, driving the development of competitive pay practices, executive compensation governance, and scalable frameworks that support a rapidly growing organization.
This is a fully remote leadership role with high visibility across HR and executive leadership teams. The Director will partner closely with HR, Finance, and business leaders to ensure compensation programs support workforce strategy, organizational growth, and long-term business objectives.
Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of compensation professionals, setting clear priorities and driving performance in a fast-paced environment.
  • Oversee the design and execution of enterprise compensation programs, including base pay, incentive plans, and executive compensation.
  • Establish and maintain a job architecture framework that supports compensation decisions, career progression, and organizational clarity.
  • Partner with HR leadership to translate Total Rewards strategy into practical compensation frameworks and priorities.
  • Serve as a senior advisor to HR Business Partners, Finance, and business leaders on complex compensation decisions and workforce implications.
  • Oversee executive compensation governance, including annual incentives, long-term incentive plans, and market benchmarking.
  • Strengthen and standardize compensation processes, policies, and decision-making frameworks to support a large and evolving organization.
  • Provide data-driven compensation insights, including market competitiveness, internal equity, and pay progression analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with pay transparency regulations and compensation-related laws while mitigating organizational risk.
  • Partner with Finance on compensation cost modeling, budgeting, and forecasting.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of progressive compensation experience within a large or complex organization.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience, including managing managers or senior compensation professionals.
  • Experience in healthcare services MSO, multi-site operations, or joint-venture environments within healthcare highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success designing and scaling compensation programs at enterprise level.
  • Experience supporting executive compensation programs and governance processes.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and decision-making skills.

Salary:

  • $190,000 - $200,000
  • Bonus: 25% annual bonus target + equity in parent company potential
