Position Summary:

Reporting to the US Marketing Lead, the Director ofUS Marketing will direct all Marketing initiatives for the continued successful commercialization of Dojolvi and Mepsevii in the US market.The Director will lead the development and execution of best-in-classannual marketingplans inclusive of market conditioning and development, disease education, brand strategies and tactical plans utilizing deepmarketingknowledge and former successful metabolic rare disease & biopharmaceuticalmarketing experience. The Director is responsible for the implementation of the brand strategy and corresponding tactics for the ongoing commercialization of both brands The successful individual will work cross-functionally with Medical Affairs, Global Brand Strategy, Marketing Research, Market Access, Patient Services, Regulatory, Legal, Compliance, Clinical Development, and Supply Chain and will work with other members of the commercial services team as needed. The individual will lead projects through the Materials and Medical Review process. 

With a dotted line to the Global Brand Strategy team, the Director, Global Commercial Lead IEM, is responsible for leading cross portfolio commercial led initiatives in support of planning for the successful commercialization of our IEM pipeline. The individual will closely collaborate with Global Regional stakeholders to identify important market trends, implement global commercialization launch strategies, and communicate with senior leaders all within a fast moving, challenging and dynamic commercial environment.  This role will also be responsible for leading the implementation of a consistent brand and tactical planning process for the IEM programs. 

Work Model: 

Remote: Officially documented as working full-time from home, with travel to Ultragenyx's offices or other locations on occasion as needed.

Responsibilities:
  • The brand lead is jointly responsible with the Medical Director, Medical affairs for leading the North American Franchise Team (NAFT) 
  • Work closely with the Marketing Leadand National Field Director to lead the US marketinginitiatives, monitor the progress of thesemarketinginitiatives and adjust appropriately to optimize patient access and key customer uptake 
  • The Director is responsible for marketing leadership and mentoring and development of the marketing team.  
  • Flawless Brand strategy execution as it applies to direct to patient support programs, professional communications, and key opinion leader (KOL) development. 
  • Leads the development of annual brand plans and associated budgets and is responsible for managing execution against plans and budgets, overseeing and manage day to day brand budgets, and ensure on-time delivery within budget of allmarketinginitiatives  
  • Monitors progress of plans and makes adjustments as necessary. 
  • Works collaboratively with the Global Brand Strategy group ensuring seamless two-way communication & US alignment with global brand plans 
  • For all initiatives, whenever possible, establish ways to measure impact, report results, and adjust plans accordingly 
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships cross-functionally across the organization. 
  • Identify issues that could potentially create barriers to patient flow/access and provide solutions 
  • Lead the organization in a manner that is patient-centered and respectful of all customersand stakeholders 
  • Manage all US brand promotional activities within corporate and industry guidelines for ethics and compliance. 
  • Work cross-functionally and partner with multiple non-commercial teams including GlobalMarketing, , Government Affairs, Medical Affairs, Clinical Operations, Legal, Compliance, Regulatory Affairs, & Patient Advocacy  
  • Partner with commercial colleagues and the customer facing Field Teams including Market Access, UCLs, Patient Support providing training and leading workshops focused upon disease awareness, productadoption and patient access 
  • Deliver impactful brand and/or market development strategies that are well articulated, communicated, and agreed to by the relevant parties  
  • Help drive commercial leadership on cross-functional, and cross-geography launch teams to ensure effective allocation of effort and resources 
  • Ensure Commercial considerations are included in cross-functional core team decisions related to data generation, trial strategy, clinical study site selection, medical strategy development, lifecycle management and manufacturing 
  • Help lead a consistent brand and tactical planning process across the IEM programs. 
Requirements:
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent life-sciences qualification required. MBA preferred. 
  • Minimum 10 -12 years of sales andmarketingexperience in the biopharmaceutical industry with at least 5 years in rare/ultra-rare disease, experience with Metabolic Genetics highly desirable. Direct sales experience strongly preferred. 
  • Successful candidates will have a proven ability to work in a multidisciplinary team with a high degree of collaborations, a strong patient focus and an understanding of U.S. patient access challenges. 
  • Strong command of analytical and market research techniques with a proven ability to interpret market insights to help guide strategic direction and prioritize tactics.   
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and act creatively to develop and lead innovative brand strategies and tactics 
  • Proven experience working with and managing external partners, including Advertising and Communications agencies 
  • Demonstrated ability to use rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions. 
  • Strong business acumen with solid scientific knowledge is required. 
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and negotiate business solutions in a complex and fast paced environment. 
  • Strong leadership and ability to drive influence across stakeholders to set direction, align work efforts and ensure flawless execution. Proven teamwork and collaboration skills. 
  • Excellent public presentation skills, written communication and listening skills. 
  • This position will require a minimum of 30% travel in the US
