Job Description:
Job Summary
Responsible for providing operational leadership for Laboratory Operations to ensure the delivery of high-quality, efficient, and compliant laboratory services. Oversees multiple laboratory departments, including testing, support, and administrative functions, to optimize performance and resource utilization. Develops and implements operational strategies, policies, and quality initiatives that align with organizational goals. Collaborates with medical directors, clinical leadership, and executive teams to drive excellence in diagnostic service delivery.
Essential Functions
• Provide operational leadership for all Laboratory Operations across assigned areas.
• Develop and implement goals, objectives, and performance improvement plans aligned with organizational strategy.
• Oversee laboratory workflows, staffing, and resource allocation to ensure operational efficiency and service excellence.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, and safety standards, including CAP, CLIA, and state requirements.
• Manage departmental budgets, financial performance, and operational forecasts to support fiscal accountability.
• Lead initiatives to improve quality, turnaround times, and customer satisfaction within laboratory operations.
• Collaborate with pathologists, clinicians, and administrative teams to support patient care and diagnostic accuracy.
• Direct the implementation of new technologies, equipment, and methodologies to enhance laboratory capability.
• Mentor and develop managers and staff to promote professional growth, engagement, and succession planning.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Education Requirement
Bachelor's degree
Experience Requirement
6-7 years of progressive experience and 2 years of related managerial experience
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. All experience must be paid and in the same related field. Part-time and PRN experience will be prorated based on hours worked per week. Volunteer work and internships for academic credit are not counted.

Active certification as outlined by the ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathologists)B.S., MT(ASCP) or equivalent

This position constantly operates near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to blood, body fluids, and infection risks. Occasionally, there is exposure to hazardous chemicals and risk of radiation. The noise level is usually moderate. The role occasionally requires maintaining a stationary position, frequently involves moving about, operating computers and equipment, and using fine motor skills to handle medical devices. Lifting/moving up to 10 pounds is constant, up to 50 pounds is frequent, and up to 100 pounds is occasional. Constant communication with patients and care teams is required, and the position occasionally demands positioning oneself for patient needs. Visual requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
