Position Overview

The Healthy Wave Counseling Center is seeking a dedicated and licensed Mental Health Counselor who is passionate about delivering exceptional mental health services. As a crucial member of our team, you will conduct mental health evaluations, create tailored treatment plans, and lead both individual and group therapy sessions. Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough preliminary interviews to assess clientsโ€™ mental, emotional, and behavioral health, documenting all findings from the initial consultation through treatment completion.
  • Design and implement individualized treatment and recovery plans for diverse populations, including individuals, couples, families, and groups.
  • Facilitate engaging and effective therapy sessions, whether conducted individually or in group settings, employing evidence-based methodologies to support recovery efforts.
  • Monitor and document progress throughout the treatment plan, making adjustments as necessary to optimize client outcomes.
  • Collaborate with a range of healthcare professionalsโ€”including psychiatrists, medical doctors, and social workersโ€”to develop comprehensive intervention strategies for clients.
  • Provide timely follow-ups with healthcare providers for clients requiring hospitalization, ensuring continuity of care.
  • Identify potential barriers to recovery and implement proactive measures to prevent them.
  • Support family members and primary caregivers in navigating the challenges associated with mental health conditions, providing them with useful resources and strategies.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Our clients come from diverse backgrounds with various mental health needs, ranging from anxiety and depression to more complex emotional and behavioral issues. You will work closely with individuals of all ages, tailoring your approach to meet unique needs and circumstances while promoting an inclusive atmosphere that respects cultural differences.

Qualifications
  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Current and valid licensure as an LMFT, LCPC, or LCSW in the state of Illinois.
  • Successful completion of necessary examinations, including a passing score on the NCE and/or NCMHCE.
  • Demonstrated experience in a mental health counseling setting.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems, preferably AVATAR.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience addressing both physical and emotional health conditions, as well as addiction disorders.
  • Knowledge of best practices defined by the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA).
  • A thorough understanding of the effects and implications of medications prescribed by medical professionals.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills alongside exceptional interpersonal abilities.
  • A sympathetic approach towards client interactions and problem-solving.
