Senior Staff Product Manager, Security Products

DigitalOcean

Boston, MA • On-site

Full-time

Job description

We are looking for a Senior Staff Product Manager II to help lead DigitalOcean's Security Products portfolio and build customer-facing security products from zero to one.

This person will own the complete product lifecycle across the portfolio, from customer engagement, discovery, and market insight through product strategy, experience design, prototyping, usability validation, technical delivery, launch, adoption, and continued improvement.

Our direction includes a unified security experience that gives customers a single place in the DigitalOcean console to understand and manage their security. The broader portfolio spans cloud security posture management, secrets management, vulnerability management, identity and access management, secrets observability, web application security, and emerging security needs across Agentic Cloud and Core Compute.

This is not a backlog-management or requirements-only role. You will help determine which customer problems DigitalOcean should solve, form an opinionated product direction, validate it directly with customers, and work closely with engineering and design to deliver simple security experiences that customers understand, trust, and use.

You will operate as a product leader across Security Products, connecting individual capabilities into a coherent portfolio and customer experience while taking direct ownership of products from initial concept through customer-facing launch and growth.

You will report to the Head of Security Products & Customer Trust.

What You'll Do:
  • Own the complete product lifecycle across DigitalOcean's Security Products portfolio, including discovery, strategy, experience design, prototyping, usability validation, delivery, launch, adoption, and iteration.
  • Build direct relationships with customers, prospects, and design partners to understand their security workflows, existing tools, unmet needs, buying considerations, and barriers to adoption.
  • Turn customer interviews, product usage, support patterns, market research, and competitive intelligence into clear product insights and investment recommendations.
  • Define and evolve an opinionated Security Products strategy aligned with the needs of DigitalOcean customers and the direction of Agentic Cloud, Core Compute, and the broader platform.
  • Shape a unified security experience in the DigitalOcean console that gives customers a clear, actionable view of their security posture, risks, identities, secrets, vulnerabilities, and available protections.
  • Identify and validate new product opportunities across areas such as cloud security posture management, secrets management, vulnerability management, identity and access management, secrets observability, web application security, and emerging agent security needs.
  • Lead zero-to-one product development from initial problem definition and value proposition through prototypes, customer validation, technical implementation, launch, and measurable adoption.
  • Work directly with UX and customers to design, prototype, test, and refine security experiences before and throughout engineering delivery.
  • Partner deeply with engineering leadership and architects to shape platform capabilities, assess technical tradeoffs, sequence foundational investments, and establish a credible path from initial product to scalable service.
  • Define product requirements, customer journeys, APIs, workflows, packaging considerations, instrumentation, launch criteria, and success measures without losing sight of the underlying customer outcome.
  • Connect individual security products into a coherent portfolio rather than allowing them to become disconnected tools with inconsistent experiences.
  • Lead customer-facing launches in partnership with Product Marketing, Developer Relations, Sales, Support, and other teams, ensuring the product, positioning, documentation, enablement, and feedback mechanisms are ready.
  • Measure product success through adoption, engagement, retention, customer security outcomes, expansion, and revenue potential, then use those signals to guide continued investment.
  • Represent Security Products in customer conversations, strategic planning, technical reviews, go-to-market discussions, and senior leadership decisions.
Key Metrics:
  • Customer adoption and engagement across Security Products
  • Successful validation and launch of zero-to-one products
  • Measurable improvement in customers' ability to identify, understand, and reduce security risk
  • Customer satisfaction and usability across the unified security experience
  • Growth in portfolio usage, retention, expansion, and revenue
  • Quality and velocity of customer learning, from discovery through post-launch iteration
  • Effective integration of Security Products across Agentic Cloud, Core Compute, and the broader DigitalOcean platform
What You'll Add to DigitalOcean:
  • Significant experience building and launching customer-facing cloud, infrastructure, developer, or security products.
  • Demonstrated ownership of the full product lifecycle, including customer discovery, product strategy, prototyping, usability testing, technical delivery, launch, adoption, and iteration.
  • Experience taking complex technical products from zero to one and creating clarity where the customer problem, product boundaries, or technical path are initially ambiguous.
  • Strong customer discovery skills and experience turning interviews, observed workflows, product data, and market evidence into specific product decisions.
  • Experience developing coherent product strategy across a portfolio or multiple related product capabilities.
  • Familiarity with several security areas such as unified security experiences, cloud security posture management, secrets management, vulnerability management, identity and access management, secrets observability, web application firewalls, workload security, or agent security. Deep experience in every area is not required.
  • Strong technical fluency and the ability to work directly with engineers and architects on APIs, cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, identity, security models, and platform tradeoffs.
  • Strong product and experience judgment, including the ability to use prototypes and usability validation to simplify complex security workflows.
  • A track record of leading customer-facing launches that include product readiness, positioning, documentation, enablement, instrumentation, and post-launch learning.
  • The ability to form and defend an opinionated product direction while changing course when customer, market, or technical evidence requires it.
  • Experience connecting customer security outcomes to adoption, retention, differentiation, and business value.
  • A hands-on leadership style. You can set portfolio direction, interview customers, work through a prototype, engage in technical design, make prioritization decisions, and drive a launch end to end.
Compensation Range:
  • $186,400 - $233,000
