Compensation

The anticipated base pay compensation range for this position is $124,200.00$207,000.00. This role is eligible for an incentive target of up to 20 % or $ , based on the achievement of individual and company performance objectives in accordance with the current terms of the incentive program which are subject to change.

This position is not eligible for any form of sponsorship now or in the future.  Individuals requiring sponsorship (e.g. OPT or H1B visa status) should not apply. Only individuals authorized to work in the United States now and for the foreseeable future will be considered for this position.

Position Details

We are looking for a Sr Product Manager, Taxonomy and Merchandising to help guide and chart a course for Grainger's enterprise systems and application development so that Grainger continues to be the destination for "the ones that get it done". The Senior Product Manager contributes to the product strategy, vision, and roadmap of future products, with a high degree of ownership over critical features and the customer experience. You will work with engineering, UX, and operational teams to develop and launch innovative aspects of a product. You are creative and highly analytical, able to work in a matrix organization, can synthesize a variety of technologies and capabilities into products and applications that customers love.

You will report to the Director, Product Management and will work on a hybrid basis out of our Chicago or Lake Forest Illinois offices.  Highly-qualified primarily-remote candidates will be considered.

You will

  • Identify & drive a roadmap of automation & operational integration for Grainger’s Taxonomy and Merchandising domain by integrating ML into current platform capabilities & improving the enterprise’s ability to design the assortment.
  • Lead cross-functional teams of UX, ML, Engineering, Analytics & Architecture technology partners to align and structure desired outcomes into actionable platform iterations that deliver in-context value with an ownership mentality
  • Communicate & drive alignment across all partners for new capability launches & critical issues, balancing customer & operational impact, engineering considerations, & long-term roadmap.   Facilitate product review discussions with C-Suite executives, landing the appropriate message for the audience.
  • Collaborate with other platform product managers, UX, and operational teams to strategically identify the right attributes for enterprise processes, evolving feedback loops, and extend the impact of new ML initiatives.
  • Author product requirements in epics & stories, prioritize backlogs, & lead sprint team refinement sessions to translate ideas into iterative tangible platform outcomes that scale over time

You have

  • 7+ years’ experience as a product manager or related technology occupation. Base experience must involve leading agile sprint teams, working with UX, analytics and business stakeholders and include demonstration of delivering and supporting working custom software/capabilities
  • Bachelor’s Degree with Master’s degree referred. 
  • Continuous improvement and innovation mindset that results in the understanding of latest technologies, including Machine Learning.  Demonstrated experience partnering with Machine Learning teams to drive new customer or process insights or automation
  • Demonstrated experience designing solutions to complex problems and delivering results by conceptualizing, building, or substantially modifying enterprise internal tools & external website
  • Ability to function with ambiguity within a matrix organization and drive clarity cross-functionally to deliver value quickly through scalable solutions
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills; ability to use both qualitative and quantitative data to back up assumptions when developing & presenting business cases to executive leadership & stakeholders
  • Problem solving & planning capabilities along with creative time management skills, high degree of ownership and helping influence teams to act with urgency
