DES is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Training Supervisor for the Division of Business Services, Office of Professional Development (OPD) supporting the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD). Under the direction of the Training Manager, the Training Delivery Supervisor will be responsible for supervising training instructors in the delivery of new hire, job specific and soft-skills training to employees at all levels within the Division of Developmental Disabilities. The Training Delivery Supervisor is responsible for all aspects of supervision and for the implementation of the Arizona Management System within their teams. This position reports to a Division Training Delivery Manager

This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Supervise division training delivery, including hiring, coaching/mentoring, and performance management. Ensure adoption of agency initiatives that impact employee management, including the Arizona Management System, OPD training delivery procedures and practices, and the strategic vision and plans.
  • Provide classroom training as backup to instructors when necessary. Schedule training, ensure course coverage and classrooms are available and maintained.
  • Collaborate with training design and delivery teams, as well as subject matter experts and training sponsors to ensure delivery of quality training at the right place at the right time.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge in:

  • Adult learning principles; learning management systems; survey instruments; organization and tracking systems; customer service and communication principles.
  • Evaluations (Phillips ROI Model preferred).
  • Project planning concepts and practices; collaboration and social media platforms.

Skilled in:

  • Problem analysis, research and resolution.
  • Evaluating training materials and courses.
  • Facilitating meetings, reporting, organization and scheduling/tracking, building and sustaining interpersonal relations.
  • Oral and written communication.

Ability to:

  • Adaptability (maintaining effectiveness when experiencing major changes in work tasks or the work environment; adjusting effectively to new work structures, processes, or requirements or to work within a new culture).
  • Communication (Attends to messages from others; correctly interprets messages and responds appropriately).
  • Customer Focus (Making customers and their needs a primary focus of one's actions, and developing and sustaining productive customer relations).
Selective Preference(s):

The ideal candidate for this position will have:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in an applicable subject area such as Instructional Design, e-Learning, Human Resources Development, Adult Education, Psychology, English or similar field preferred. Three (3) years experience as a trainer or instructional designer.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
  • This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job to conduct State business, then the following requirements apply: Driver's License Requirements. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver's license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver's license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).
  • Successfully pass background and reference checks; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency's ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.
  • All newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).

Retirement:

State employees are required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS), the State sponsored retirement contribution plan and the Long-Term Disability (LTD) program after a 27-week waiting period. You will also have the option to participate in a voluntary deferred compensation program to take advantage of tax-deferred retirement investments.
