Location: Harrisburg
Telework: This position will report to the headquartered location a minimum of 2 days per week. You may have the opportunity to telework the remainder of the week, if desired and based on business need.

Salary Range: DAG III: Pay Range 10 - Starting salary of $91,423
DAG IV: Pay Range 11 - Starting salary of $104,529
The Office of Attorney General (OAG) is a respected institution dedicated to legal excellence and service to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Basic Function
The OAG is seeking an attorney to serve as Operations Counsel for Labor Relations and provide legal advice and representation on labor relations matters as they arise. Operations Counsel is supervised by the Chief of Staff and regularly interacts with the Director of Human Resources and Office Services. Operations Counsel may also interact as needed with attorneys and staff in other divisions.
Examples Of Duties
  • Represents the OAG before administrative hearings
  • Assists in civil litigation matters when such involvement is determined to be appropriate, valuable, and feasible by the Chief of Staff and Chief of Civil Litigation and the Civil Division Executive Deputy Attorney General. All civil litigation work will be supervised within the Civil Division's established chain of command
  • Provides advice on collective bargaining agreement(s) and interpretation and implementation of arbitration awards and labor board decisions
  • Participates in hearings and grievance procedures with representatives from various unions as well as Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) mediations
  • Provides the Director of Human Resources and Office Services and other staff with effective legal advice on strategies and implementation, and manages legal functions related to labor relations and employment law
  • Advises staff on the handling of labor and employment matters
  • Assists in developing office employment policies as requested by the Chief of Staff
  • Anticipates issues related to labor relations and suggests proactive solutions to eliminate or mitigate liability risks
  • Legal research and counsel as requested
  • Any other duties as assigned

Minimum Experience and Training
Deputy Attorney General III:
  • Graduation from an accredited school of law, admission to the Bar of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, and a minimum of six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in professional legal work

Deputy Attorney General IV:
  • Graduation from an accredited school of law, admission to the Bar of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, and a minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in professional legal work
