How much do remote dental internship jobs pay per hour?

As of Aug 9, 2026, the average hourly pay for remote dental internship in the United States is $17.31, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $14.42 and $19.23 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote dental intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Dental Intern, you need foundational knowledge of dental sciences and coursework, typically gained through enrollment in or completion of a dental program. Familiarity with teledentistry platforms, dental imaging software, and basic digital communication tools is commonly required. Strong organization, attention to detail, and effective virtual communication skills help interns stand out in remote environments. These abilities ensure accurate clinical support, professional collaboration, and a productive learning experience despite the physical distance.

Can you work remotely as a dental internship?

A remote dental internship is uncommon because dental training typically requires hands-on clinical experience in a physical setting. Most internships involve in-person work to develop practical skills, although some programs may offer virtual components for related coursework or observation. Candidates should verify specific program requirements to determine if remote options are available.

Is it possible to get a remote dental internship?

Remote dental internships are rare because dental training typically requires hands-on clinical experience and in-person supervision. However, some programs may offer virtual components such as coursework, case studies, or telehealth observations, but full remote internships are uncommon in the dental field.

How do remote dental internships typically structure mentorship and hands-on learning experiences?

Remote dental internships often utilize a combination of virtual case discussions, live-streamed demonstrations, and interactive Q&A sessions to provide mentorship and hands-on learning. Interns are usually paired with experienced dental professionals who offer regular feedback through video calls and digital portfolio reviews. While direct patient care may be limited, interns frequently participate in simulated clinical exercises, treatment planning, and telehealth consultations, ensuring a comprehensive educational experience. Collaboration with peers and staff is encouraged through online forums and collaborative projects, helping interns build strong professional networks.

What is the difference between Remote Dental Internship vs Dental Assistant?

Common Search & ComparisonYesYes

The Remote Dental Internship focuses on providing online experience in dental administration, research, or support roles, often suitable for students or recent graduates. In contrast, a Dental Assistant works in-person at dental clinics, assisting with patient care and procedures. While both roles support dental health, they differ significantly in work environment and required credentials.

Are there any remote jobs in the dental field?

Remote dental internships are available for students and recent graduates interested in gaining experience in dental administration, telehealth, or dental research. These roles often involve tasks such as patient communication, data entry, or supporting dental teams remotely, and may require basic knowledge of dental terminology and communication tools. However, clinical dental work typically requires in-person presence due to the hands-on nature of the profession.

What is a remote dental internship?

A remote dental internship is a work experience opportunity for students or recent graduates to learn about dentistry and dental practices through virtual means, rather than being physically present in a dental office. Interns may participate in online educational modules, virtual shadowing, case studies, research projects, and telehealth observations. This type of internship allows participants to gain valuable knowledge about dental procedures, patient care, and the dental industry while accommodating geographic or scheduling constraints. Although hands-on clinical practice is limited, remote dental internships can still provide meaningful exposure to the field and help build professional connections.
