Remote Demography information

What is remote demography?

Remote demography jobs involve analyzing population data and trends while working from a remote location, such as home or a co-working space. Professionals in this field study aspects like birth rates, migration patterns, aging populations, and other demographic variables using digital tools and statistical software. These roles may include demographic researchers, data analysts, or policy advisors, and often require strong analytical and statistical skills. Remote demographers support organizations in government, academia, and private sectors by providing insights that inform planning and decision-making.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote demographer?

To thrive as a Remote Demographer, you need a strong background in statistics, population studies, and data analysis, usually supported by a relevant degree such as demography, sociology, or public health. Proficiency with statistical software like SPSS, R, or Python, and experience with survey platforms and GIS tools are typically expected. Attention to detail, critical thinking, and strong written communication skills set exceptional demographers apart in remote settings. These skills are vital to accurately interpret population trends, support evidence-based decision-making, and effectively collaborate with diverse, distributed teams.

How does a remote demography professional typically collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to analyze population trends?

Remote Demography professionals often work closely with data scientists, public health experts, and policymakers to interpret and apply demographic data. Collaboration usually takes place via virtual meetings, shared digital workspaces, and cloud-based data analysis tools. Regular communication is essential to ensure that demographic insights align with broader project goals, such as health initiatives or urban planning. This team-based approach not only enhances data accuracy but also provides opportunities for professional growth through exposure to diverse perspectives and methodologies.

  • Coordinate with the Lead Scheduler and care teams; escalate stalled referrals and system issues through defined channels.

  • Complete annual cybersecurity, Privacy Act, and HIPAA training, and maintain strict confidentiality on every record.
Required Qualifications
  • United States citizenship.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.

  • A quiet, private home workspace within 50 miles of a VISN 19 VA Medical Center, with reliable high speed internet.
Strongly Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in a federal healthcare setting (VA, military health system, federal contractor, or community health center).
  • Familiarity with VistA, CPRS, or VA community care referral systems.
  • Background in healthcare scheduling, medical office administration, insurance verification, or a healthcare call center.
  • Bilingual ability (Spanish or another language spoken across the VISN 19 service area).
  • Military service or military-spouse remote-workforce background.
Compensation and Engagement Details
  • Hourly base pay set to the federal Service Contract Act Wage Determination for your location (see the pay range on this posting).
  • Quarterly performance bonus: Tier 1 up to $520 per quarter, Tier 2 up to $260 per quarter (up to $2,080 annually).
  • Service Contract Act Health and Welfare benefits (health, dental, vision), plus paid sick leave under Executive Order 13706.
  • Paid time off and the federal holiday schedule; retirement plan eligibility after a qualifying period.
  • Structured federal onboarding: cybersecurity attestation, VA system training (VistA, CPRS), and HIPAA compliance.
  • A dedicated CLFC Program Manager and mentor support, with a path to Lead roles as the program grows.
