Remote Demand Forecasting information

How does a remote demand forecasting specialist typically collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve forecast accuracy?

As a remote demand forecasting specialist, collaboration with cross-functional teams such as sales, marketing, supply chain, and finance is essential to enhance the accuracy of forecasts. This is usually achieved through regular virtual meetings, shared data dashboards, and collaborative forecasting tools that allow for transparent communication and timely updates. Building strong relationships and maintaining open channels for feedback helps ensure that all relevant market trends, promotions, and external factors are considered in the forecasting process. Effective communication skills and proactivity in seeking input from various departments are key to success in this remote role.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in remote demand forecasting, and why are they important?

To thrive in Remote Demand Forecasting, you need strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of statistics and data analysis, and typically a degree in business, mathematics, or a related field. Proficiency in forecasting software (such as SAP IBP, Oracle Demantra, or Microsoft Excel), data visualization tools, and sometimes certifications in supply chain or analytics are common requirements. Excellent communication, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities help you interpret data trends and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. These skills and qualifications are essential for producing accurate forecasts, optimizing inventory, and supporting informed business decisions in a remote environment.

What is remote demand forecasting?

Remote demand forecasting is the process of predicting future customer demand for products or services using statistical analysis, machine learning, and historical data, all done from a remote location. Professionals in this field use specialized software and tools to collect and analyze data, create forecasting models, and communicate findings to stakeholders without being physically present at a company’s office. This approach allows organizations to make informed decisions about inventory, staffing, and production while leveraging remote talent and technology.

Location: New York, NY (Flatiron HQ) – 3 days onsite, 2 days remote

About The Job

TileBar is an innovative industry leader transforming the tile, interiors and surfaces market in the United States. As a rapidly growing company, we are redefining how homeowners and designers shop for projects. With an ambitious vision to lead the multi-billion-dollar tile category, we are seeking a visionary, strategic, and hands-on creative leader to shape the future of our brand and join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a vital part in our growth trajectory.

We are seeking an ambitious, results-driven Senior Manager of Demand Planning to help drive a world-class Planning function that will be instrumental in achieving TileBar’s aggressive growth plans. This role is pivotal in optimizing our supply chain strategy, managing demand for a diverse portfolio of over 5,000 SKUs, and ensuring seamless collaboration across departments. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and can communicate complex insights to senior leadership and cross-functional teams, impacting the entire organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.

Demand Forecasting & Channel Planning

• Own the development of accurate top-down and bottom-up demand forecasts by channel and product category, incorporating sales history, seasonality, promotions, and qualitative business inputs.

• Reconcile unconstrained demand with item-level forecasts to establish a single demand view, in partnership with Procurement, SIOP, and Finance.

Inventory Target Inputs

• Drive demand planning inputs that inform inventory targets, including ABC classification, item-level forecasts, and service level assumptions, partnering with Procurement and SIOP to support balanced inventory decisions.

Supply Chain Metrics & Reporting

• Track and report on KPIs such as forecast accuracy and bias, sales trends, and item stockouts.

• Develop new metrics to drive continuous improvement.

Sales & Channel Collaboration

  • Partner with sales and channel leaders to gather, synthetize, and challenge qualitative demand inputs, promotional plans, and market insights, translating insights into structured forecast assumptions.

Risk Identification & Mitigation

•  Proactively identify demand risks and constraints and manage mitigation strategies in partnership with supply chain teams.

Strategic Insights & SIOP

•  Lead the demand planning cadence within the SIOP cycle, providing senior management with actionable, data-driven insights on demand trends, risks, and trade-offs.

•  Collaborate cross-functionally with Procurement and Finance on monthly and seasonal planning alignment.

Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.

  • Minimum of 4 years in supply chain planning, demand forecasting, or inventory management.
  • Proficiency in statistical forecasting methods and demand modeling (baseline forecasting, seasonality, trend analysis, promotional lift)
  • Familiarity with BI and data visualization tools for building and maintaining reporting (Power BI)
  • Evaluate and adopt emerging AI/automation tools to streamline Demand Planning processes and manual data reconciliation.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative capabilities, with proficiency in forecasting and statistical analysis (Excel, SQL, Power BI, or similar tools).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with diverse teams.
