Key Responsibilities
Job Summary
The Director of Field Decommission is responsible for leading revenue growth, profitability, and operational performance for the field decommission product line by working through senior staff, general managers, field decommission managers, and sales personnel. The role is accountable for standardizing processes, coordinating and scheduling labor between plants, improving estimate accuracy, and establishing consistent workflows, best field practices, and measurable KPIs. This position also leads forecasting, budgeting, strategic planning, market development, and pipeline/backlog management while maintaining a strong focus on customer service, safety, and regulatory compliance. The role requires frequent travel to support field operations, customer needs, and business development activity.
Core Responsibilities
  • Lead the overall performance of the field decommission product line with accountability for revenue growth, profit, margin performance, and operational execution.
  • Partner with senior staff, general managers, field decommission managers, and sales personnel to align strategy, execution, and growth initiatives across territories.
  • Standardize processes and maintain consistent workflows and best field practices across field decommission operations.
  • Coordinate and schedule labor between factories to support project execution and resource efficiency.
  • Develop, coach, and train field decommission managers and support recruitment and employee development efforts.
  • Oversee project scheduling, estimating, logistics planning, and job site surveys to support safe, effective, and profitable project delivery.
  • Maximize margins based on market conditions in each territory and support accurate estimating and commercial decision-making.
  • Support business development activities, including market development and active management of the sales pipeline and backlog.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and planning activities and report against monthly financial targets, KPIs, and backlog performance.
  • Direct activities related to metal and oil commodity sales as part of the field decommission business model.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements and all applicable regulatory and environmental standards.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships through responsive service, clear communication, and effective issue resolution.
  • Travel extensively to support operations, customer engagement, site activity, and business growth needs.

Minimum Requirements
Education/Certifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Engineering, Construction Management, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a closely related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • PMP certification preferred.

Experience
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in transformer field decommission sales and operations, or equivalent related experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with P&L accountability, budgeting, forecasting, planning, and performance reporting.
  • Experience in project scheduling, estimating, logistics planning, and job site survey execution.
  • Experience leading business development efforts and managing pipeline/backlog performance.
  • Experience leading teams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of transformer field decommission operations and related sales and operational practices.
  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements and applicable environmental and regulatory standards.
  • Ability to build and maintain standardized processes, consistent workflows, best practices, and trackable KPIs.
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen, including margin management, estimate accuracy, and target-based reporting.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Ability to lead, develop, and influence others across multiple locations and functions.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
