Sr. Network Engineer, Data Center

Job Summary Iron Mountain is seeking a skilled and experienced Network Engineer to join our Data Center team. In this role, you will be responsible for configuring, installing, supporting, and maintaining both customer-facing and internal enterprise data center network infrastructure. You will bridge the gap between architectural designs and hands-on execution to ensure global network services run securely, reliably, and responsively. US Citizenship required.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities)

In this role, you will:

  • Lead Infrastructure Deployment: Configure, deploy (rack and stack), support, and maintain all network hardware including routers, firewalls, and switches, with the ability to physically lift equipment up to 50 lbs.

  • Drive Operational Excellence: Lead network incident management to identify, analyze, and resolve faults from critical outages to customer escalations, while performing routine preventative maintenance and security checks.

  • Implement Designs & Standards: Partner closely with Network Architecture to implement approved network designs and standards, while strictly adhering to organizational monitoring, alerting, and change control processes.

  • Collaborate & Document: Work with global customers and internal partners on new installations and tech refreshes, while creating and maintaining detailed documentation of network configurations.

  • Remote but requires willingness to report to data center sites as needed, and involves working within a 24/7 support model (weekends/holidays)

What You'll Bring (Skills & Qualifications)

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Extensive Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in a complex, mixed-vendor "mission-critical" carrier or data center network environment.

  • Protocol & Fabric Expertise: Deep technical knowledge of BGP, FHRP, VLANs, Spanning Tree, VPWS, IS-IS, OSPF, and modern data center fabrics like EVPN and VXLAN tunneling.

  • Network Security & Monitoring: Thorough working knowledge of TCP/IP fundamentals, Group Based Policy (GBP), IP Addressing/Sub-netting (VLSM), SNMP management, and traffic analysis tools.

  • Operational Readiness: Strong critical thinking skills and the flexibility to work within a 24/7 support model (including weekends/holidays), with a willingness to report to physical data center sites as needed.
