Additionally, setting clear expectations and using collaborative platforms can help mitigate misunderstandings and improve workflow efficiency.

What is remote data processing?

Remote data processing refers to the collection, analysis, and management of data from a location outside of a traditional office setting, often using cloud-based tools and remote access technologies. Professionals in this role handle data entry, validation, organization, and sometimes basic analytics, ensuring data integrity and accessibility for organizations. This job typically requires strong computer skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while maintaining data security and privacy protocols.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Data Processing specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Data Processing specialist, you need strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in data entry and management, often supported by a relevant degree or experience in data-related roles. Familiarity with databases, spreadsheet software like Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets, and sometimes data processing tools such as SQL or Python is typically required. Excellent time management, self-motivation, and clear communication are essential soft skills for remote collaboration and meeting deadlines. The Opportunity

Reporting to the SME Product Manager, the Tax Form Data Specialist will be responsible for maintaining Canopy's Tax Resolution and Tax Organizer products. You'll collaborate and work cross-functionally with subject-matter experts, Product, and Engineering to work through any enhancements or bugs reported by customers, respond to government updates, and ensure a seamless and delightful user experience.

This is a part-time position (10-25 hours/week) and is fully remote (candidates must be based in UT).

Firms use Canopy's Tax Resolution product to save time and money, by helping them manage and resolve their clients' tax issues with the IRS and state revenue agencies. Filling out pages of forms is a tedious task that Canopy makes a breeze. Canopy takes the client information and fills out the required forms automatically. This role will ensure the forms contain accurate content and are populating correctly.

What You'll Do:

  • Track and document changes to tax forms and other official guidance
  • Prioritize, research, and respond to customer reported bugs and feedback

  • Review the work of fellow team members
  • Work closely with Product and Engineering to provide an excellent user experience

Your Skills Include:

  • Motivated and passionate problem solver who can communicate effectively
  • Ability to learn quickly and work with minimal supervision
  • Strong reading comprehension skills (you'll regularly be reviewing government forms and their associated instructions)
  • Very strong organizational skills and attention to detail. You're someone who spots things that others might not notice.

Other Preferred Skills:

  • Proficient with using Adobe Acrobat to prepare and edit PDF forms
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Excel logic
  • Post-secondary education in any of the following areas: accounting, finance, tax, legal, history, languages, or philosophy
  • Familiarity with AI and ability to automate tasks

We know many women do not apply for a job if they don't perfectly fit the description. We want you to apply anyway.

Benefits/Perks:

  • Remote work with a flexible schedule and high level of trust
  • Employee activity budget
