Job description

Interested in joining ANSER as a Data Scientist or Data Analyst, but don't see a current opening that matches your experience?

We'd still love to connect with you! Please send us your resume, and we'll keep your information on file for future opportunities that align with your background and skills.

As a Data Scientist or Data Analyst at ANSER, you'll work alongside multidisciplinary teams to analyze complex datasets, generate actionable insights, and support mission-critical decisions for government clients, internal stakeholders, and external partners.

Most roles are based in the greater Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C. area and require on-site work five days a week. Some positions may offer hybrid or remote options, but this is determined case by case and is not typical for most roles.

General Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Collect, clean, and analyze large datasets to support program objectives and strategic decision-making.
  • Design and build data models, visualizations, and dashboards to communicate insights clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Conduct statistical analyses, forecasting, and predictive modeling to identify trends and inform policy or operational recommendations.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), engineers, and analysts to understand data needs and develop tailored solutions.
  • Present findings through briefings, technical reports, or presentations to leadership and government stakeholders.
  • Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and security of data throughout the analysis process.
  • Stay current with industry trends and tools in data science, analytics, and emerging technologies.
  • Provide data subject matter expertise to senior stakeholders on data governance and policy related to data usage, technology and integration.

General Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of bachelor's degree in data science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.  Master's degree is required for senior level roles.
  • 3+ years of experience in data analysis or data science, ideally in support of government, defense, or intelligence programs.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools such as Python, R, SQL, Tableau, or Power BI.
  • Experience working with large and complex datasets from multiple sources.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Knowledge of statistical methods, machine learning techniques, or data modeling frameworks.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, mission-focused environment.
  • Active security clearance or the ability to obtain one may be required depending on the position.
  • Prior experience and knowledge of defense agencies and their technology policies.
