Remote Dance Costume Designers are professionals who create, design, and sometimes source costumes for dance performances while working from a location outside of a traditional studio or company office. They collaborate with choreographers, dancers, and production teams virtually to understand the requirements of a performance and develop costume concepts that fit the theme, movement needs, and budget. These designers use digital tools for sketching, fabric selection, and fittings, often shipping prototypes or finished costumes to clients. Their work is essential for ensuring dancers have functional, comfortable, and visually striking costumes for performances.

As a Remote Dance Costume Designer, effective collaboration with choreographers and dance teams is achieved through regular virtual meetings, sharing design sketches and fabric samples digitally, and utilizing collaborative project management tools. You’ll often participate in video calls to discuss movement requirements, color schemes, and performance themes, ensuring your designs align with the creative vision and practical needs. Open communication and quick feedback exchanges are essential, as is adaptability to last-minute costume revisions based on client input or performance changes.

To thrive as a Remote Dance Costume Designer, you need a background in fashion design, garment construction, and knowledge of dance-specific costume requirements, often supported by a degree in fashion or costume design. Proficiency in design software like Adobe Illustrator, pattern-making tools, and collaboration platforms such as Zoom or Slack is typically required. Creativity, strong communication, and attention to detail are crucial soft skills for understanding client needs and ensuring costumes are both functional and visually appealing. These skills are essential to deliver high-quality, comfortable costumes that meet the artistic and practical demands of dancers while working efficiently with remote teams and clients.

  • Maintain a compliance calendar and checklist to help ensure Revamp's HR programs remain consistent with federal, state, and local legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Support federal, state, and local mandated reporting-including EEO, ACA, and applicable state and local filings-tracking deadlines and compiling required data.
Payroll + Timekeeping Support
  • Track hourly employee timesheets and follow up on missing or incomplete submissions ahead of each payroll cycle to support accurate, on-time processing.
  • Review timesheets and expense/reimbursement coding for accuracy, escalating discrepancies to the appropriate manager.
  • Assist in managing state registrations and setups as employees relocate or travel, and research and resolve routine state payroll tax notices.
Benefits + Leave Administration
  • Verify QLE changes with broker and/or carriers, as necessary
  • Support 401(k) eligibility and enrollment fundamentals, and support open enrollment activities including employee system access and insurance card distribution.
  • Complete disability and related claim paperwork across applicable state and carrier programs.
General HR + Administrative Support
  • Serve as a resource for routine employee questions, administering Employee Handbook policies and procedures and assisting in resolving day-to-day matters.
  • Provide administrative support for professional licensing management.
  • Handle sensitive mail-including confidential and immigration-related documents-with strict confidentiality and filing as needed.
Additional Duties
  • Perform essential duties, including meeting deliverables and deadlines.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned or directed.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize work, and juggle multiple compliance, payroll, and benefits priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Available to work four hours per day, Monday to Friday between 9 AM and 5 PM PT.
  • Ability to commute into the Oakland office on an as-needed basis (approx. 1 - 2 days weekly).
Preferred
  • Knowledge of California HR and employment law.
