Systems Engineering Future Capability Development

  • Lead engineering evaluation of new Azure platform capabilities, emerging DevSecOps tools, Kubernetes enhancements, automated security technologies, and cloud‑native architectural patterns.
  • Drive RD efforts to prototype new platform features, test future capabilities, and document engineering findings to burn down future requirements for USMC Azure Enterprise DevSecOps.
  • Conduct technical planning, functional analysis, requirements decomposition, and allocation for cloud‑based and hybrid systems, ensuring engineering alignment with mission objectives.
  • Engineer reusable Azure platform components such as Helm charts, Kubernetes manifests, IaC modules, GitOps pipelines, and automation workflows to streamline future onboarding and system expansion.
  • Develop modernization strategies and lead engineering efforts for upgrades, refactoring, and transformation initiatives across the Azure DevSecOps ecosystem.

  • Engineer and support applications deployed across Azure and hybrid environments, ensuring proper integration with Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift, and other container ecosystems.
  • Analyze and design for high availability, resilience, scalability, and distributed system performance across cloud native architectures.
  • Identify architectural gaps, perform root cause analysis for system design defects, and propose engineered improvements.

Security Engineering Compliance Automation

  • Engineer automated security capabilities including vulnerability scanning, SAST/DAST, container security, and compliance automation within DevSecOps pipelines.
  • Support engineering of identity, networking, access control, and policy enforcement mechanisms consistent with DoD cybersecurity frameworks and RMF.

  • Produce engineering documentation, diagrams, system specifications, prototypes, and future capability whitepapers.
  • Collaborate closely with development, QA, security, operations, and stakeholders to drive engineering decisions and influence long-term technical approaches.

THIS POSITION REQUIRES AN ACTIVE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE TOP SECRET OR SECRET SECURITY CLEARANCE.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in CS, IT, Engineering, Math, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • CompTIA Security+ or equivalent certification (IAT Level II).
  • 8+ years' experience (Bachelor’s) or 6+ years (Master’s).
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and DevSecOps practices.
  • Experience engineering cloud native platforms, especially Azure, Kubernetes, Docker, and hybrid systems.
  • Strong proficiency with IaC (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, Bicep).
  • Proficiency in scripting/programming (Python, Bash, Go, Java).
  • Hands-on experience with automated security compliance tools.

Desired Qualifications
