What is a Remote Crypto Quant?

A Remote Crypto Quant, or quantitative analyst, is a professional who applies mathematical, statistical, and computational techniques to analyze cryptocurrency markets, develop trading strategies, and manage risk, all while working remotely. They use programming languages like Python or C++ to build models that identify patterns and opportunities in the crypto market. These specialists often work for hedge funds, trading firms, or crypto startups, leveraging data-driven approaches to maximize returns and minimize losses. Remote Crypto Quants need strong analytical skills, knowledge of blockchain technology, and the ability to work independently from any location.

How does a Remote Crypto Quant typically collaborate with distributed teams and stakeholders?

As a Remote Crypto Quant, you will often work with globally distributed teams, including other quants, developers, and traders. Efficient communication is essential, and you’ll likely use collaboration tools such as Slack, GitHub, and video calls to coordinate research, share models, and review code. Regular virtual meetings and clear documentation help maintain alignment on project goals and trading strategies. This remote structure provides flexibility, but also requires strong self-discipline and proactive communication to ensure your quantitative insights drive impactful trading decisions.

Gauntlet

OR • Remote

Full-time

Posted 18 days ago

Job description

Gauntlet leads the field in quantitative research and optimization of DeFi economics. We manage market risk, optimize growth, and ensure economic safety for protocols facilitating most spot trading, borrowing, and lending activity across all of DeFi, protecting and optimizing the largest protocols and networks in the industry. We build institutional-grade vaults for decentralized finance, delivering risk-adjusted onchain yields for capital at scale. Designed by the most vigilant, quantitative minds in crypto and informed by years of research.

As of November 2025, Gauntlet manages over $2B in vault TVL, and optimizes risk and incentives covering over $42 billion in customer TVL. We continually publish cutting-edge research that informs our risk models, alerts, and analysis, and is among the most cited institutions — including academic institutions — in terms of peer-reviewed papers addressing DeFi as a subject. We’re a Series B company with around 75 employees, operating remote-first with a home base in New York City.

As a company, we build institutional-grade vaults that deliver risk-adjusted DeFi yields at scale, powered by automated risk models and off-chain intelligence. Gauntlet curates strategies across Morpho, Drift, Symbiotic, Aera and more, with >$2B in vault TVL and a growing suite of Prime, Core and Frontier vaults.

Our mission is to drive adoption and understanding of the financial systems of the future. We operate with a trader’s discipline and a risk manager’s skepticism: size carefully, stress routinely, unwind decisively. The label equals the package equals the contents. No surprises, just predictable, reliable vaults.

Gauntlet builds solutions that apply off-chain intelligence to drive on-chain efficiency. We help partners monitor, understand, and capitalize on economic risk, and we measure success with clear, trusted metrics. This role owns the productization of Gauntlet’s core metrics for both internal decision making and external transparency.

You will define what we measure, how we measure it, and how the company and our community consume it. You will partner with Product, Engineering, Data, Finance, and Growth to deliver accurate, timely, and consistent reporting across vaults and platform features.
Responsibilities
  • Own the roadmap for core product metrics and reporting. Define goals, success criteria, and SLAs for freshness, coverage, and quality.
  • Build and maintain a single source of truth for internal metrics: flows, revenue, TVL, growth attribution, finance reporting, TVL per vault, revenue per vault.
  • Partner with Data Engineering to scope instrumentation, tracking plans, schemas, and ETL. Write clear product requirements for pipelines and dashboards.
  • Support workflows with Finance, Growth, and Engineering. Reconcile product telemetry with booked revenue and cash movements.
  • Deliver executive-ready dashboards and narratives that drive prioritization and accountability across product lines.
  • Own external transparency standards. Ensure Gauntlet App metrics align with third-party aggregators, with a focus on DefiLlama parity and consistent public definitions.
  • Publish and govern a company-wide metrics catalog including definitions, edge cases, backfills, and change logs.
  • Establish data QA gates: anomaly detection, backtesting, schema validation, and rollback plans for metrics changes.
  • Drive adoption. Train stakeholders, document self-serve workflows, and collect feedback to improve usability and trust.
  • Represent metrics in customer and community contexts. Coordinate with Communications and BD on public reporting and disclosures.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years in Product Management or Data Product roles with end-to-end ownership of metrics and reporting in fintech, crypto, or analytics-heavy products.
  • An engineering degree or equivalent engineering experience
  • Strong analytical toolkit: SQL proficiency required. Comfort with Python for exploratory analysis and QA.
  • Track record building instrumentation and data models with product teams. Familiarity with event design, schema versioning, and ETL change management.
  • Clarity in writing and storytelling. You can turn complex data into crisp decisions and roadmaps.
Bonus Points
  • Bonus Points
  • Hands-on experience with DefiLlama or other crypto aggregators, subgraphs, and on-chain indexing.
  • Prior ownership of a company metrics catalog.
  • Experience with BI and data stack tools such as Hex, Mode, Looker, BigQuery, dbt, Airflow.
  • Understanding of measurement pitfalls: attribution bias, survivorship bias, and schema drift on EVM logs.
  • Experience partnering with Finance on revenue, reconciliation, and monthly close processes.
  • Domain fluency in DeFi metrics, on-chain data, and vault or protocol KPIs is strongly
Benefits and Perks
  • Remote first - work from anywhere in the US & CAN!
  • Regular in-person company retreats and cross-country "office visit" perk
  • 100% paid medical, dental and vision premiums for employees
  • $1,000 WFH stipend
  • Monthly reimbursement for home internet, phone, and cellular data
  • Unlimited vacation
  • 100% paid parental leave of 12 weeks
  • Fertility benefits
  • Opportunity for incentive compensation
Please note at this time our hiring is reserved for potential employees who are able to work within the contiguous United States and Canada. Should you need alternative accommodations, please note that in your application.

The national pay range for this role is $170,000 - $190,000 base plus additional On Target Earnings potential by level and equity in the company. Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for a company of our size and industry, and are one part of many compensation, benefits and other reward opportunities we provide. Individual pay rate decisions are based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skill set, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company.
