What is a Remote Crypto Quant?

A Remote Crypto Quant, or quantitative analyst, is a professional who applies mathematical, statistical, and computational techniques to analyze cryptocurrency markets, develop trading strategies, and manage risk, all while working remotely. They use programming languages like Python or C++ to build models that identify patterns and opportunities in the crypto market. These specialists often work for hedge funds, trading firms, or crypto startups, leveraging data-driven approaches to maximize returns and minimize losses. Remote Crypto Quants need strong analytical skills, knowledge of blockchain technology, and the ability to work independently from any location.

How does a Remote Crypto Quant typically collaborate with distributed teams and stakeholders?

As a Remote Crypto Quant, you will often work with globally distributed teams, including other quants, developers, and traders. Efficient communication is essential, and you’ll likely use collaboration tools such as Slack, GitHub, and video calls to coordinate research, share models, and review code. Regular virtual meetings and clear documentation help maintain alignment on project goals and trading strategies. This remote structure provides flexibility, but also requires strong self-discipline and proactive communication to ensure your quantitative insights drive impactful trading decisions.

Job description

This role is for one of our clients
Compensation: $180-$235 per hour
A leading AI research organization is launching an intensive Finance Sprint focused on evaluating the realism and quality of finance-related workflows used to train and assess advanced AI systems. We are seeking experienced professionals with expertise in trading, derivatives, crypto markets, and quantitative finance to evaluate whether complex tasks accurately reflect real-world industry practices.
This is a fast-paced, high-impact engagement beginning immediately. Participation is offered on a first-come, first-served basis, and selected experts should be available to contribute consistently throughout the sprint.
During this engagement, you will apply your professional judgment to assess whether finance workflows, assumptions, constraints, and expected outputs align with how work is actually performed in trading and financial markets. Task content is confidential and may evolve throughout the project.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
  • Review finance workflows and tasks for realism, technical accuracy, clarity, completeness, and practical applicability.
  • Evaluate whether provided inputs, business context, assumptions, and expected workflows accurately reflect real-world trading and financial market operations.
  • Identify ambiguous instructions, missing assumptions, unrealistic constraints, unsupported requirements, and important edge cases.
  • Highlight tasks that are overly broad, insufficiently realistic, or unlikely to measure meaningful financial expertise.
  • Provide concise, structured feedback along with actionable recommendations to improve workflow quality and evaluation standards.
  • Collaborate with fellow domain experts to maintain consistency and ensure high-quality assessments across the project.
Requirements
  • Practitioner Track: 5-9 years of professional trading experience or 5-8 years of professional crypto market experience.
  • Senior Reviewer Track: 7-15 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Derivatives Trading
    • Options & Volatility Trading
    • FX Markets
    • Futures Trading
    • Market Making
    • Systematic or Algorithmic Execution
    • Cryptocurrency Markets
    • Decentralized Finance (DeFi)
    • Electronic Market Structure
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills with a deep understanding of pricing models, hedging strategies, liquidity, execution, and risk management.
  • Ability to distinguish theoretically correct approaches from solutions that are executable and practical in live financial markets.
  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to explain not only whether a solution is correct, but also the reasoning behind your assessment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, sound professional judgment, and experience evaluating work against clearly defined quality standards.
  • Experience reviewing analysts' work, establishing quality controls, approving deliverables, or managing review processes is highly desirable for senior-level reviewers.
Why This Opportunity Matters
Advanced AI systems can only be evaluated effectively using tasks that accurately reflect real-world financial practice. Your expertise will help ensure that AI evaluation benchmarks measure meaningful trading, derivatives, and crypto market capabilities with the same rigor expected from experienced market professionals.
Engagement Details
  • Independent contractor engagement.
  • Fully remote with flexible working hours.
  • Selected experts should be available for active participation throughout the sprint and responsive to project communications during the engagement.
  • Tasks may require focused work sessions lasting approximately 2-4 hours at a time.
  • Project duration may be extended, shortened, or concluded based on business needs and performance.
  • Weekly payments are made through Stripe or Wise based on completed work.
  • Please note: We are unable to support H1-B or STEM OPT candidates at this time.
Equal Opportunity
We are committed to providing equal opportunities to all qualified applicants without regard to legally protected characteristics. Reasonable accommodations are available throughout the application and engagement process upon request.
