Employment Type: Full-time (W2)
Hiring Company: Confidential

Location: 100% Remote (US)
Base Salary: $150,000 – $175,000 per year (USD)

Role Summary
Are you excited about tax but tired of the old way of doing things? We are a growth-minded, remote firm looking for a Tax Manager who prioritizes strategy over compliance. We don't just crank out returns; we serve as year-round proactive partners to high-performing entrepreneurs and real estate investors. This is a high-impact role with no timesheets, where you are empowered to lead strategic conversations and help clients keep more of what they earn.
Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Advisory: Lead tax planning kickoff calls and quarterly advisory meetings. Design and implement high-impact strategies like cost segregation, 1031 exchanges, and depreciation optimization.
  • Proactive Planning: Review financials to identify missed planning opportunities and advise on entity structuring and compensation optimization.
  • Technical Leadership: Prepare or review complex returns that reflect deep strategic planning rather than just transactional data entry.
  • Firm Scaling: Help strengthen and scale our advisory offerings and elevate the firm’s technical standards.
  • Mentorship: Guide and mentor team members, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous professional growth.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Experience: 5+ years of public accounting tax experience with a proven background in delivering advisory services, not just compliance.
  • Credentials: Active CPA, EA, JD, or LLM in Tax.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of business taxation, pass-through entities, and tax minimization strategies.
  • Communication: Confidence in leading client-facing conversations and translating complex tax laws into actionable business advice.
  • Mindset: You think strategically rather than transactionally and want to be part of building something exceptional.
Compensation/Benefits
  • Financial: $150k–$175k base salary + performance bonuses.
  • Retirement & Health: 401(k) with company match and health insurance with a company contribution.
  • Time Off: Generous PTO and paid parental leave.
  • Support: Technology stipend, continuing education, and CPA support.
  • Flexibility: Permanently 100% remote with an advisory-first structure and no timesheets.
Why This Opportunity is Different
We are pursuing greatness, not average results. This role offers you a "seat at the table" as we scale. You will move away from reactive, deadline-driven work and into a role where your expertise is respected and your strategy directly impacts client outcomes. If you are ready to do tax differently, we want to hear from you.
