Job description

Since 1984, Share Our Strength® has led the fight against hunger and poverty by inspiring and organizing individuals and businesses to share their strengths. Today, through the No Kid Hungry campaign, Share Our Strength is ending childhood hunger in America by ensuring all children get the healthy food they need. No child should go hungry in America – we’re on our way to making that a reality and we want you to join us. We’re bold, creative, always open to new ideas, and 100% dedicated to our mission. If that sounds like you, we’d like you to consider becoming part of our team.

As a member of the Social Media Team, the Senior Manager, Social Media Content leads organic content strategy across all channels for the No Kid Hungry and Share Our Strength brands. This role brings together editorial instinct, creator relationships, and platform-specific knowledge to tell compelling stories that move national audiences, from high-production campaign moments to fast-moving real-time content that rapidly positions organization messaging in a way that strengthens our narrative power. The ideal candidate is as comfortable setting strategy in a planning meeting as well as talking with creators and celebrities to create content as they are cutting together a timely trend video.

Regular projects for this role include leading social media content strategy, including analyzing post performance and messaging to better engage digital audiences, shaping campaign ideas to inspire these audiences to take action, ensuring that our content streams represent an equitable, diverse, and inclusive vision, and supporting our org-wide efforts to mobilize and empower a network of influencers across multiple channels.

This position is preferably based in Washington DC; but could be fully remote for the right candidate. The position offers a salary range of $82k-$91k. Exact compensation within the stated salary range may vary based on skills, experience, internal equity, and geographical location.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Content Strategy & Channel Management

  • Lead the creation, management, and execution of organic social media content strategy for Share Our Strength's brands across Instagram, Facebook, X/Twitter, Threads, TikTok, LinkedIn, and BlueSky, in both static and video formats.
  • Adapt content strategy for organizational priority campaigns, social-first moments, rapid response, and platform-specific opportunities as algorithms and audience behaviors evolve.
  • Direct, oversee, and maintain standards for brand voice, tone, and visual identity across all social channels.
  • Develop and implement holistic social media content strategy balancing brand storytelling, measurable impact, and ROI-driven tactics that drive engagement and awareness. Leverage analytics to extract insights, identify trends, and continuously inform strategy.
  • Manage a team of content creation supporters through a digital vendor to increase capacity and support for social content, managing project work including social media copywriters, app/platform representatives, and production partners.
  • Partner with colleagues to support Share Our Strength's work to be a diverse and inclusive organization, and ensure this value is embedded in the organization and throughout our work.

Video Content & Live Production

  • Serve as lead rapid response content producer for social-first video content, including TikToks, Instagram Reels and live-stream coverage (as needed), bringing authentic, engaging energy that reflects the brand's voice.
  • Produce and edit short-form social video content, including stitching together relevant news clips, trending audio, and organizational moments into timely, platform-native formats (comfort with in-app editing tools, CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, Express, Slate or similar is sufficient)
  • Develop on-the-ground content plans for events, travel to organizational events, storytelling content collection opportunities, and campaign activations to capture live content and provide real-time social coverage across platforms.

Influencer & Creator Partnerships

  • Manage and set strategy for all organic content creator and influencer relationships in close coordination with the Senior Director of Innovative Partnerships and Community Growth and the Associate Director of Talent Partnerships to build a cohesive influencer marketing strategy.

  • Build and nurture relationships with influencers, content creators, and brand ambassadors to expand brand awareness, reach, and mission impact, treating creators not as channels but as strategic partners and message experts.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required, or equivalent professional and work experience.
  • 4-7 years of experience in social media content creation with demonstrated progression in scope and responsibility.
  • Experience engaging audiences through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok (a plus) with an understanding of social media metrics.
  • Hands-on experience with short-form video editing using mobile-first tools (CapCut, Adobe Express, in-app editors) and/or desktop tools; full video production experience is not required.
  • Deep familiarity with Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X/Twitter, LinkedIn, and emerging platforms, with strong understanding of platform algorithms and metrics.
  • Experience managing influencer relationships and building long-term creator partnerships.
  • Proficiency with Sprout Social, Asana, Keyhole, Facebook Business Suite, and/or Google Analytics strongly preferred.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and relationship management skills, including strong judgment and emotional intelligence.
  • Familiarity with issue advocacy and political campaign experience is valued.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; experience presenting to high-level audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently on multi-step, detail-oriented projects in a fast-paced, fluid environment.
  • Experience covering live events for social media — planning, capturing, and posting in real time (nice to have).
  • Genuine interest in anti-hunger and anti-poverty issues.

COMPREHENSIVE BENEFIT PLAN:
We offer a comprehensive benefits plan which currently includes, but is not limited to, health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, retirement, wellness benefits, and paid time off (vacation leave, sick leave, personal leave, holiday, parental leave, bereavement leave, military leave, and jury duty leave).
