Short-Form Video Editor -- B2B, Podcasts & Founder Content

Los Angeles, CA • Remote

Single Grain
11 - 50 employees

Full-time

Posted 13 days ago

Job description

Find the moment. Make the first second count.

We are hiring short-form video editors for Eric Siu's AI, marketing, business, entrepreneur, podcast, and long-form content. Include “Short-form editing is cool” in the subject line. Otherwise, your application will be disqualified.

You will find strong moments in source material and turn them into polished vertical videos for Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts. The work needs immediate hooks, clear pacing, kinetic captions, purposeful B-roll or graphics, clean sound, and CTAs that fit the idea.

We need editors who make strong editorial decisions without waiting for exact timestamps or frame-by-frame direction.

About Single Grain

Single Grain is a revenue marketing agency. We build pipeline-focused systems that compound, not campaigns that expire. We have helped more than 500 companies, from venture-backed startups to the Fortune 500, drive measurable growth.

Eric Siu hosts the Leveling Up podcast and co-hosts Marketing School with Neil Patel. The content reaches marketers, founders, and operators across YouTube, podcasts, email, and social platforms.

We operate as an AI-native team. Every role uses AI to improve speed, quality, judgment, and leverage. AI output still requires strong human taste and quality control.

Your mission

Edit current, platform-native short-form videos that make complex business ideas clear, hold attention, publish on schedule, and create qualified audience action.

Primary KPI: reliable weekly delivery that improves retention, completion, first-pass approval, or qualified CTA actions from the first-30-day baseline.

What you will own
  • Review podcasts, long-form videos, and original recordings to identify strong moments.

  • Build the cold open and structure the clip for immediate clarity.

  • Edit vertical videos with native pacing, accurate captions, clean audio, and purposeful visual support.

  • Adapt the edit to the idea and platform instead of applying one template to every clip.

  • Use AI for tasks such as transcript search, clip discovery, rough cuts, captions, cleanup, or quality control while keeping editorial judgment human.

  • Deliver organized files, clear versions, platform-ready exports, and fast revisions.

  • Review performance feedback and improve the next batch.

  • Flag weak source material or unclear briefs early and propose a better approach.

What success looks like

In 30 days, you understand the audience and visual language, deliver a reliable weekly batch, and meet the agreed turnaround and revision standards.

By 60 days, you find promising moments without exact timestamps and use performance feedback to improve hooks, pacing, clarity, and CTAs.

By 90 days, you own the editing workflow from source intake through organized handoff and show measurable improvement from the first-month baseline.

Evidence we need to see
  • Two recent short-form or podcast-clipping examples for B2B, AI, SaaS, business, entrepreneur, marketing, finance, or expert-led creators.

  • Your exact role in selecting the moment, shaping the hook, editing the piece, and delivering the result.

  • Current platform-native craft, not a stale reel or generic clip-farm template.

  • A concrete AI-assisted editing workflow and the QA method you use.

  • Proof that you can work with minimal handholding and meet deadlines.

  • Quantified retention, completion, CTA, lead, or business-outcome evidence attributable to your work.

This role is not
  • A role for gaming, children's media, meme-only, or broad entertainment portfolios with no strong relevant examples.

  • A role that waits for exact timestamps and complete edit instructions.

  • A template-only clipping role.

  • A role where listing AI tools substitutes for showing a real workflow.

  • A views-only role. We care whether the right audience watches and acts.

How the process works
  1. Application and portfolio review.

  2. A focused screen against the role outcomes.

  3. A paid two-clip test from one real source asset.

  4. One revision round and a short walkthrough of your decisions.

  5. References and final decision.

The paid test is timeboxed and will not be used as unpaid production work.

Work model and compensation

This is a fully remote, per-project contractor role, and we may hire more than one editor. Applicants must state their per-clip or weekly-batch rate, expected capacity, normal turnaround, revision policy, available working hours, and start date.

Apply with proof

Include two recent relevant examples, your exact role, your AI workflow, rate, clips per week, normal turnaround, revision policy, availability, and one quantified result.
