Job description

We're Looking For A: Video Editor (Freelance-to-Hire)ย 

Location: Hybrid (El Segundo, CA and/or Burbank/North Hollywood, CA)

Hiring Process: This role will begin with a paid freelance project-based engagement prior to potential full-time employment. The initial engagement is expected to span approximately two weeks and include an estimated six days of work. A transition to full-time employment is contingent upon successful completion of the project and mutual fit.

What You'll Be Doing:ย The successful candidate will be responsible for crafting captivating, often disruptive marketing videos that weave storytelling magic to sell pet-focused health and wellness products and food, principally through online social platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube, but also including potential videos for TikTok, television, sizzle reels, and more.

The ideal candidate will have a strong portfolio showcasing their visual aesthetics and an ability to create compelling video content, intricate motion graphics, and engaging use of editing and music. This role requires a detail-oriented individual and self-starter who can work collaboratively, communicate effectively, juggle multiple projects at once while able to meet deadlines.

  • Collaborate with producers to identify common visual and short-form storytelling trends, and make data-driven, quick-turnover ad optimizations.ย 
  • Edit raw footage into polished videos, ensuring a seamless narrative flow, high-quality visuals, and professional sound, from in-house and stock assets.ย 
  • Design and create complex motion graphics for various projects, across platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok.ย 
  • Work closely with Story Producers and other team members to understand project requirements and ensure that the final product meets the desired objectives.ย 
  • Utilize industry-standard software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, and other relevant tools to produce high-quality video content.ย 
  • Stay updated with the latest trends and techniques in video editing, motion graphics, and animation to continuously bring fresh ideas to the table.ย 
  • Review and fine-tune videos, ensuring they meet technical and creative standards, and are error-free before final delivery.ย 
  • Efficiently manage multiple projects, meeting deadlines without compromising on quality.

Qualifications (Note: We strongly encourage you to apply even if you don't tick ALL of these boxes.):

  • 3-5+ years in Video Editing, ideally including 1 year in Motion Graphicsย 
  • Proficiency in Adobe Suite: Premiere and After Effects, Photoshop, and Media Encoder.ย 
  • Basic knowledge on media encoding and publishingย 
  • Has a good sense of composition and aesthetic decision
  • Detailed organization and media management skills
  • Attention to detail and strong communication skillsย 
  • Has a desire to solve problems, openness to giving and receiving feedback and a hunger to always be improving

The base salary range is $70,400 - $88,000, plus bonus potential.
