Material Handling/Packaging Territory Sales

Ohio Division – Columbus/Dayton

Top Shelf is currently seeking a motivated and experienced territory Sales Representative to grow sales in our Ohio Material Handling and Packaging Division. We are one of the largest material handling, packaging, robotics, crane, and industrial scale distributors in the Midwest.

Ideal candidates have experience selling Material Handling and/or packaging equipment. This position requires prospecting and needs a true hunter to be successful. We sell sophisticated equipment to manufacturers, food companies, distributors, 3PLs, agricultural companies, and warehousing sectors. This role requires strong communication skills, sales ability, and some technical understanding. Training will be provided. This role would go after new material handling business in the territory, as well as assist current customers. This will be a salary + commission sales position. Base salary will adjust over the first few years as you establish your territory. Total compensation first year from $80,000-$120,000, depending on effort and experience. No cap on commission, so annual gross salary also has no ceiling.

This individual would be responsible for growing our market share in SE Ohio. Customer service is a priority. Each person on our sales team is responsible for operating their own “business within a business”. This is a sales role that requires someone to have an entrepreneurial spirit, as our sales representatives have complete control over their territories from quoting, pricing, project management, installation management, negotiation, etc. We have a consultative approach, to try to help customers solve issues and increase efficiencies.

This position is remote, reporting to our Dayton or Columbus location as needed. There will be a lot of travel within the territory to visit customers during the week. Overnight travel is less than 10%.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Promote and sell integrated equipment systems and value-added services per customer specifications to grow market share and increase sales annually
  • Further develop established customer accounts; expand sales within given accounts.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed, and comprehensive knowledge of potential sales in the territory.
  • Align with other sales representatives to expand product knowledge and collaborate on integrated system solutions
  • Attend applicable industry trade shows as needed to support sales and business development efforts.
  • Prepare and submit monthly sales activity.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer and prospect information in the CRM, including contacts, opportunities, and sales stages.
  • Customer service – answering phone calls, making aftermarket service phone calls, etc.
  • Maintain current customers and execute orders.

Requirements for the position:

  • 4-year degree in Business or related field preferred, or 5 + years of Business-to-Business sales experience.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of Business to Business sales experience required.
  • Mechanically inclined or an engineering background is a plus
  • Outside sales personality & entrepreneurial mindset is a must
  • Valid Driver’s License required, and must be eligible to drive per respective state law based on office location. Travel within the territory is essential. Home most nights.
  • Driven, organized, and strong communication skills required
  • Basic computer knowledge required.
