Job description

Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience, plus minimum 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree, plus minimum 3 years of relevant experience.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.


General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior Project Manager supporting a Senior Program Manager across multiple concurrent production programs. This position offers a direct opportunity to impact program execution, customer satisfaction, and business growth within a portfolio that supports critical national defense missions. The successful candidate will execute assigned program responsibilities in support of the Sr. Program Manager, collaborating closely with engineering, operations, finance, contracts, and supply chain functions in a dynamic matrix environment.

Representative Duties and Tasks

Program Execution & Schedule Management

  • Executes assigned program responsibilities in support of the Sr. Program Manager across multiple simultaneous production programs
  • Develops, maintains, and statuses the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS); identifies critical path, schedule risks, and recovery actions
  • Tracks work accomplishment against baseline plans; identifies issues and drives corrective actions to closure across functional teams
  • Facilitates Integrated Product Team (IPT) meetings; owns action item tracking and ensures accountability across all stakeholders
  • Monitors production readiness and sustainment rates; coordinates with operations to resolve bottlenecks impacting delivery commitments
  • Coordinates with program security officers to ensure compliance with classification requirements and visit requests
  • Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment with changing goals

Financial Management & Forecasting

  • Manages program, project, and contract financials across multiple active purchase orders and contract line items
  • Develops and maintains spend plans; analyzes labor mix and cost trends to support accurate Estimate at Completion (EAC) reporting
  • Supports Earned Value Management (EVM) tracking and reporting including variance analysis and corrective action documentation
  • Prepares and presents orders and sales forecasts for current and future purchase orders at program and business unit reviews
  • Reviews and processes Contract Modifications; ensures scope, schedule, and budget impacts are accurately captured and baselined
  • Supports Business Directors with quarterly financial and staffing forecasts

Contracts & Supply Chain

  • Reads, analyzes, and manages contract structures including CLINs/SLINs across varied contract types (CPFF, CPIF, FPIF, FFP)
  • Works with Supply Chain Management (SCM) to develop and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs); prepares and executes PARs, PRs, and POs
  • Identifies and manages subcontractor performance risks; coordinates with SCM on delivery risks and mitigation strategies
  • Tracks and manages Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) and Data Requirements Description (DRD) deliverable schedules to ensure on-time compliance

Proposals & Business Development

  • Develops and executes proposal plans and strategies for production follow-on contracts, options exercises, and engineering change proposals
  • Develops pricing strategies and negotiation plans; leads or supports customer negotiations to achieve program objectives
  • Identifies scope changes and develops program positions for equitable cost and schedule adjustments
  • Supports new business capture activities within existing customer relationships

Customer Engagement

  • Serves as a primary point of contact for prime customer interactions on assigned programs; prepares and delivers program status briefings to customers, internal leadership, and cross-functional teams
  • Supports customers on technical and programmatic questions while maintaining strong relationships with key customer stakeholders
  • Travels to engage with remote staff, customers, and subcontractors as required to maintain program momentum

Team Leadership

  • Tasks and coordinates development and functional teams in a matrix organization to achieve cost, schedule, and technical performance objectives
  • Leads cross-functional teams in identifying and quantifying risks and opportunities; manages risk mitigation and opportunity capture activities

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Identifies opportunities to apply AI for continuous improvement and innovation
  • Fully proficient in development and management of Integrated Master Schedules including critical path, risk areas, and slack time analysis
  • Fully proficient in EVM principles and application including variance analysis and corrective action reporting in a production program environment
  • Fully proficient in program financial management including spend plans, labor mix analysis, EAC development, and variance reporting
  • Fully proficient in reading and managing government contract structures (CLINs/SLINs) across multiple contract types (CPFF, CPIF, FPIF, FFP)
  • Fully proficient in risk and opportunity management principles and their application across projects and suppliers
  • Experience working with Supply Chain Management on BOMs, PARs, PRs, and POs
  • Ability to develop and execute proposal plans and pricing strategies for production follow-on work
  • Strong presentation skills with demonstrated ability to brief senior leadership and customers effectively
  • Fully proficient in MS Project, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Additional Highly Desired Experience / Skills / Abilities

  • Familiarity with Navy Submarine New Construction and Navy Submarine Modernization program offices and customers
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent production programs simultaneously
  • Background in defense electronics, command and control systems, or related mission systems domains
  • Experience supporting Integrated Product Team (IPT) leadership in a fast-paced production environment
  • Familiarity with CDRL/DRD management and government deliverable compliance requirements
