What does a remote contract recruiter do?

A Remote Contract Recruiter is a hiring professional who works on a contractual basis, typically from a remote location, to help organizations find and hire suitable candidates for job openings. They manage the full recruitment process, including sourcing candidates, conducting interviews, screening resumes, and coordinating with hiring managers. Their contracts may be short-term or project-based, giving companies flexibility in staffing. Remote Contract Recruiters use various online tools and platforms to efficiently connect with potential candidates and streamline the hiring process.

What does a remote contract recruiter do?

Remote contract recruiters are independent contractors hired to find and screen qualified candidates for specific job openings. Recruitment agencies employ remote contract recruiters on a short- or long-term basis, and they may be assigned to one particular employer or to several different companies. In this role, you comb through resume posting sites and other employment sites for job seekers that match the qualifications required for the position. You contact the applicant and conduct a virtual interview to gauge their fit for the job. Those who meet the criteria are then forwarded to the company to go through the interview process. Remote contract recruiters work from home and may be paid hourly or on commission, based on the number of positions you fill.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote contract recruiter?

To thrive as a Remote Contract Recruiter, you need strong talent acquisition skills, knowledge of recruitment best practices, and experience with full-cycle recruiting, often backed by a bachelor's degree in human resources or related fields. Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS), sourcing tools like LinkedIn Recruiter, and digital communication platforms is essential. Exceptional interpersonal skills, self-motivation, and the ability to manage time independently set top performers apart. These skills ensure effective candidate sourcing, seamless client communication, and successful placements in a remote work environment.

How do remote contract recruiters effectively build relationships with hiring managers and candidates despite working off-site?

Remote Contract Recruiters often rely on strong communication skills and digital tools to foster relationships with both hiring managers and candidates. Regular video meetings, prompt email responses, and transparent updates help establish trust and keep all parties aligned throughout the recruitment process. Leveraging collaborative platforms like Slack or Microsoft Teams can also facilitate real-time interactions and quick decision-making. While remote work can present challenges in building rapport, proactive engagement and consistent follow-ups are key strategies for success in this role.

SUMMARY
We are looking for an experienced Contract Recruiter to join our team and immediately support a fast-paced, growing SaaS EdTech organization. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in an environment where priorities move quickly, hiring needs evolve, and recruiters are expected to operate with a high level of ownership and urgency. The right person will be able to hit the ground running, quickly learn our business and teams, build strong relationships with hiring managers, and independently manage multiple searches from intake through offer. We are looking for someone who embraces technology and actively uses AI and recruiting tools to work smarter, move faster, and improve the candidate and hiring manager experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage full-cycle recruiting across multiple functions, with a focus on Sales, Client/Customer Success, administrative, and corporate positions.
  • Partner closely with leaders and hiring managers to understand hiring needs, role requirements, and ideal candidate profiles.
  • Drive the recruiting process with a strong sense of urgency, ownership, and follow-through.
  • Proactively source and engage high-quality candidates rather than relying solely on inbound applicants.
  • Manage multiple open positions simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to detail.
  • Keep hiring managers informed and accountable through consistent communication and follow-up.
  • Conduct candidate screens and provide thoughtful, concise recommendations to hiring managers.
  • Coordinate interviews, manage candidate communication, and ensure a positive candidate experience throughout the process.
  • Quickly pivot when business priorities, hiring profiles, or timelines change.
  • Leverage AI tools and recruiting technology to improve sourcing, candidate research, outreach, workflow efficiency, and overall speed.
  • Maintain accurate and timely information within the ATS and ensure recruiting processes and documentation remain organized.
  • Identify opportunities to improve recruiting processes while maintaining the speed required in a high-growth environment.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
  • 4-6 years of full-cycle recruiting experience, preferably within a fast-growing SaaS and/or EdTech organization.
  • Proven ability to independently manage multiple searches across Sales, Client/Customer Success, administrative, and corporate functions.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift and speed, follow-through, and attention to detail are critical.
  • Strong sourcing skills and the ability to identify and engage talent beyond traditional applicant pipelines.
  • Strong ability to partner with leaders and hiring managers and confidently drive the recruiting process forward.
  • Comfortable leveraging AI and recruiting technology to source talent, increase efficiency, and accelerate the hiring process.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Adaptable, resourceful, and comfortable pivoting as business and hiring priorities change.
  • Ability to quickly learn the business, understand role requirements, and hit the ground running with minimal ramp-up.
  • Self-directed and comfortable operating independently once trained.
  • Strong judgment and ability to represent the company professionally with candidates at all levels.

WHAT DOES SUCCESS LOOK LIKE
You quickly become a trusted recruiting partner to our leaders, understand the business and the roles you support, and maintain momentum across every search. You consistently bring forward strong candidates while balancing speed with quality. You communicate proactively, stay on top of the details, follow up consistently, and use AI and technology to make recruiting faster and more efficient. You are comfortable with change, know how to pivot when priorities shift, and take ownership of keeping the hiring process moving from start to finish.
