Remote Contract Paralegal information

What is a remote contract paralegal?

A Remote Contract Paralegal is a legal professional who provides paralegal services to law firms, attorneys, or corporations on a contractual basis while working from a remote location, such as their home office. Their responsibilities typically include legal research, drafting documents, managing case files, and assisting with trial preparation, all performed online or via digital communication platforms. This role allows both flexibility and the ability to work with clients from various locations, often on a project-by-project basis rather than as a full-time employee.

How do remote contract paralegals typically communicate and collaborate with attorneys and legal teams?

Remote contract paralegals generally use a combination of secure email, project management tools, and virtual meeting platforms to stay connected with attorneys and legal teams. Daily responsibilities often include drafting legal documents, conducting research, and managing case files, all of which require clear communication to ensure accuracy and efficiency. Many teams use cloud-based document sharing and regular check-ins to maintain workflow and address any questions promptly. Building strong relationships with supervising attorneys and proactively clarifying expectations are key to succeeding in a remote environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote contract paralegal, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Contract Paralegal, you need a solid understanding of legal concepts, contract law, and document review, typically with a paralegal certificate or relevant degree. Familiarity with legal research databases, contract management systems, and secure document-sharing platforms is essential. Excellent organization, attention to detail, and strong written communication are standout soft skills for this role. These abilities ensure accurate contract support, effective remote collaboration, and compliance with legal standards in a virtual environment.

Job description

Company Description
We are an established civil litigation and business law firm that is shifting its focus towards the estate planning, probate and bankruptcy. As part of this process we are rolling out a comprehensive law firm management system from an established and respected national estate planning law firm consultation group. This means we will be maintaining an existing practice while building a new firm within the firm from the ground up: new software, new procedures, new practices, new markets and new clients-truly an opportunity to become part of the foundation of this new endeavor, while still enjoying the stability of an established firm. Overall, we are driven by providing an exceptional experience for our clients and prospective clients.
Job Description
Looking for a contract paralegal to do mostly probate and estate planning work, to develop and improve the firm forms, to prepare written procedures for various tasks, and to do some training of the rest of the staff. The firm does a lot of other areas of law as well, so could be some work in other areas if desired (trademark, business, personal injury, construction).
Qualifications
Must have meaningful experience in Arizona probate, including formal and informal probates, conservatorships and guardianships, and related; experience in estate planning, trust administration and Medicaid/ALTCS a big plus.
Additional Information
Pay and Benefits:
Pay is DOE. Position is for contract work, at least at first. The office is open from Monday-Friday 8:30-5:00, but we have some flexibility with those hours. Remote work is fine, where appropriate.
