Job Description:
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated CLM (Contract Lifecycle Management) Legal Engineer with a specialization in AI and Generative AI (GenAI) capabilities. This role is critical to the success of our Contracts Solutions AI (GenAI) services roadmap and initiatives and will be responsible for defining detailed requirements for contract-related AI and GenAI solutions. The ideal candidate will leverage their expertise in CLM, contract law, and technology to lead requirements definition, design, and configuration of advanced AI functionalities to enhancing automation, insight generation, and workflow efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Requirements Definition & Stakeholder Collaboration
    • Collaborate with legal, procurement, and business teams to gather and translate requirements for AI and GenAI capabilities within the CLM system.
    • Lead and/or support CLM requirements, design, test preparation, UAT and training facilitation activities
    • Work closely with stakeholders to define use cases and establish technical requirements for automation, contract review, compliance, and risk assessment.
    • Lead requirements workshops and work with legal and contract management teams to map current workflows and identify automation opportunities.
  • AI/GenAI Solution Development & Implementation
    • Act as the primary resource for configuring AI/GenAI functionalities in the CLM system, including automated contract review, risk scoring, clause extraction, and natural language understanding (NLU).
    • Develop and implement AI-powered models and algorithms to enhance contract drafting, negotiation insights, and data-driven recommendations.
    • Partner with data scientists and AI engineers to fine-tune AI models, ensuring accuracy and relevance in contract analysis, keyword extraction, and clause comparison functions.
  • Configuration & System Optimization
    • Oversee the configuration of the AI (GenAI) modules to support contract functional capabilities effectively, focusing on optimizing templates, clause libraries, and playbooks to align with AI-enabled processes.
    • Configure and optimize GenAI tools to support contract generation, standardized language, and regulatory compliance, ensuring that the solution meets the evolving needs of the legal and contracting teams.
    • Monitor, evaluate, and refine AI performance, adjusting configurations to improve accuracy and reduce manual intervention.
  • Testing, Validation & Change Management
    • Define and lead testing protocols to validate AI/GenAI functionality, identifying any gaps and addressing issues with solutions.
    • Manage quality assurance and validation for AI-driven features, ensuring regulatory compliance and operational alignment.
    • Support change management efforts, providing training materials, demos, and user documentation to drive user adoption of AI/GenAI capabilities.
  • Data Management & Reporting
    • Leverage the CLM system's analytics capabilities to provide data-driven insights on AI usage, performance, and improvement areas.
    • Generate reports that track the impact of AI/GenAI on efficiency, risk management, and contract lifecycle timelines, presenting findings to leadership and other stakeholders.

Qualifications:
  • Education & Experience
    • Bachelor's degree in Law, Legal Studies, Computer Science, or a related field. JD or Master's degree is a plus.
    • 5+ years of experience with CLM solutions, particularly in legal engineering or CLM implementation roles.
    • Proven expertise in implementing AI/GenAI capabilities within CLM systems (e.g., AI-based clause extraction, automated contract drafting, risk scoring).
  • Technical Skills
    • Strong experience in configuring and administering CLM platforms such as ContractPodAI Leah/Leah Intelligence, Agiloft, Malbek, or similar.
    • Proficiency in AI/ML concepts, with experience implementing natural language processing (NLP) and generative AI solutions.
