What is a remote content strategist?

A Remote Content Strategist is a professional who develops and manages content plans for businesses or organizations, while working from a location outside of a traditional office. Their responsibilities often include researching target audiences, creating content calendars, coordinating with writers and designers, and ensuring that all content aligns with brand goals and messaging. They use analytics to measure content performance and make data-driven decisions to improve engagement and reach. Remote Content Strategists rely on digital communication and collaboration tools to work effectively with team members across different locations.

How do remote content strategists typically collaborate with other team members to ensure content aligns with overall business goals?

Remote Content Strategists regularly work with cross-functional teams, such as marketing, design, SEO specialists, and subject matter experts, to align content initiatives with broader business objectives. Collaboration often happens through virtual meetings, project management platforms, and shared editorial calendars. Clear communication and regular check-ins are essential to ensure everyone is on the same page and that content supports campaign goals and brand messaging. This collaborative approach helps maintain consistency and drives measurable results for the organization.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote content strategist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Content Strategist, you need strong writing, editing, and analytical skills, typically supported by experience in content marketing or communications. Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), SEO tools like SEMrush or Ahrefs, and analytics platforms such as Google Analytics is essential. Outstanding communication, collaboration, and self-motivation are crucial soft skills for managing projects and aligning with distributed teams. These abilities ensure effective content planning, brand consistency, and measurable results in a remote work environment.

What does a remote content strategist do?

As a remote content strategist, you work from home or from a remote office, providing content ideation, execution, and strategy to clients or your employer. Your duties and responsibilities frequently overlap with other creative professionals, and you may do some copywriting on occasion, but typically you work at a higher, less-granular level to fit content into larger marketing strategies. For instance, you may work with user experience designers to ensure that relevant content is always accessible to website users at different points in the sales funnel, or you may provide messaging strategy for a wider advertising campaign. In each case, you work with a team of other content creators and creative professionals, including designers, web developers, and more.

Job description

Role Summary

Precon Events is seeking a strategic, creative, and technology-driven Sales Enablement Strategist to strengthen and scale our sales efforts. Working directly with the Director of Sales and CEO, this position will equip the sales team with the content, systems, campaigns, and insights needed to generate opportunities, develop compelling proposals, and move prospects effectively through the sales cycle. This hands-on role combines strategy with execution. The Sales Enablement Strategist will lead proposal development, manage automated email and lead-nurture campaigns, enhance sales content, and use CRM and campaign data to improve results. The successful candidate will bring current sales-enablement and marketing-automation expertise and turn ideas into scalable processes that support Precon's continued growth.

Responsibilities

The Sales Enablement Strategist serves as the bridge between Precon's sales strategy and its day-to-day execution. This role empowers the sales team to win new business and engage prospects effectively throughout the sales cycle by executing essential sales-support activities and proactively identifying ways to improve, automate, and scale Precon's sales efforts.

Sales Proposal Development

Design, write, and maintain compelling client proposals using StoryDoc, PowerPoint, PandaDoc, and other presentation platforms.

Collaborate with the sales team to develop proposal strategies and messaging tailored to each opportunity.

Create visually engaging presentations that clearly communicate Precon's capabilities, experience, and differentiators.

Coordinate RFP responses by gathering information from appropriate departments, managing deadlines, and ensuring submissions are accurate, polished, and complete.

Develop and maintain proposal templates, case studies, videos, testimonials, project photography, and other reusable sales content.

Sales Enablement and Content Management

Develop and maintain a centralized, easily accessible library of sales assets, including presentations, case studies, photography, videos, pricing tools, and marketing collateral.

Create customized materials for client meetings, RFPs, presentations, prospecting efforts, and other sales opportunities.

Assist with lead research, qualification, and prospecting initiatives.

Partner with sales leadership to translate business-development priorities into practical tools, content, and repeatable processes.

Continually identify opportunities to improve the sales process through automation, templates, technology, and sales-enablement best practices.

Marketing Automation and Email Campaigns

Develop, execute, and manage automated email campaigns supporting multiple sales representatives and target audiences.

Create lead-nurture campaigns, targeted outreach sequences, newsletters, and other sales and marketing communications.

Segment audiences and tailor messaging based on prospect characteristics, interests, and stage in the sales cycle.

Conduct A/B testing and monitor campaign performance to improve messaging, timing, frequency, and audience engagement.

Stay current on marketing-automation and sales-enablement practices and recommend new strategies, tools, and approaches that can strengthen Precon's business-development efforts.

CRM and Sales Analytics

Manage sales and marketing campaign information, reporting, and related workflows within Salesforce and connected platforms.

Track campaign performance, lead conversions, pipeline activity, and sales-engagement metrics.

Create dashboards and reports that provide meaningful, actionable insights to sales and company leadership.

Analyze data to identify trends, evaluate effectiveness, and recommend improvements that increase engagement and conversion rates.

Support accurate, consistent CRM practices and help improve how sales information is captured and used.

Brand and Marketing Support

Ensure proposals, presentations, campaigns, and sales materials are consistent with Precon's brand and clearly communicate the company's capabilities and value.

Coordinate and publish the company newsletter and other recurring marketing communications.

Support a consistent social media presence by developing, scheduling, and publishing relevant content.

Collaborate with the Creative team and other departments to identify compelling projects, stories, and visual assets that can be used in sales and marketing efforts.

Preferred Location & Travel Requirements

This is a full-time, remote position, with candidates residing in the DC, Maryland, or Northern Virginia region preferred. Attendance at client meetings, industry events, and live event sites will be required. Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel independently throughout the region. Occasional out-of-area travel and evening or weekend availability may also be required.
