Job description

ABOUT US

Stio® is an omni-channel mountain brand that designs, develops and sells beautiful, functional, and innovative apparel, footwear and other accessories infused with the soul of the mountain lifestyle. With headquarters in Jackson, Wyoming, Stio draws inspiration from the surrounding Teton Range and offers product via Stio.com, catalog, B2B and its Mountain Studio® retail locations.

We live and love mountain life, and as such see ourselves as caretakers of the resources that provide it. We are proud partners of Protect Our Winters and the Conservation Alliance among many other organizations. We have a strong preferred materials platform, use Bluesign® approved textiles wherever possible, audit our supply chains for best practices, and operate our workplaces responsibly.

We think that outside is the best side and that you can’t improve on nature. It’s good for mind, body and soul, and it’s our responsibility to help enable access for all people, regardless of race, gender, beliefs, background or ability. We strive for inclusion at Stio and in our local and national communities.

YOUR ROLE

The Social Media & Content Manager is part of Stio's Brand Team, reporting to the Senior Brand Manager. This role owns organic social planning and execution, hands-on content creation, and works closely with the Stio athlete program on content deliverables. As a DTC-first brand, organic social is our highest-leverage upper funnel channel — and this role exists to unlock its potential through authentic, creator-driven content that brings the Stio brand to life across social media channels. This role is first and foremost a creator and operator, and lives the life Stio is built around — moving through backcountry terrain, bike trails, and resort runs as a participant, not a spectator.

Must be based in Jackson Hole, WY or Salt Lake City, UT; approximately 20% travel required.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Social Media Management & Content Creation
    • Own the day-to-day operations of all Stio social media channels, including content scheduling, posting, community management, and platform optimization.
    • Execute social media strategy developed in collaboration with the Sr. Brand Manager, translating brand campaigns and marketing objectives into consistent, on-brand content across all platforms.
    • Create in-the-moment, authentic social content — including short-form video (Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts), Instagram Stories, and live coverage — captured on iPhone in the field at athlete projects, events, activations, and productions.
    • Collaborate with video production contractors to develop social-first content — including short-form video and organic assets — that feeds both organic channels and the paid media pipeline.
    • Serve as the primary online voice of the brand: actively engaging with the community, responding to comments and messages, and fostering a positive, values-aligned environment.
    • Monitor platform updates, algorithm changes, and cultural trends — combining these insights with deep outdoor industry knowledge to identify timely, relevant content opportunities.
    • Source and manage UGC from the Stio community and athlete network for use across social and owned channels.
    • Support content capture at brand activations, on-model productions, and events — creating social-first assets that drive reach, exposure, and audience growth.
  • Athlete Content Management
    • Manage day-to-day communication and coordination across all roster levels, serving as the primary point of contact for athletes and ambassadors for content development.
    • Support coordination and logistics of athlete-involved productions and brand activations, including travel, scheduling, and on-site support.
    • Brief athletes on content expectations, campaigns, and product launches; review and approve submissions for brand alignment.
    • Actively source athlete-generated content for use across social and owned channels, maintaining a consistent pipeline of authentic storytelling.
    • Track athlete content deliverables and maintain organized records of assets and usage rights.
  • Editorial & Mountain Town Journal
    • Support a consistent flow of editorial content for the Mountain Town Journal (MTJ) in collaboration with the Sr. Brand Manager, coordinating athlete- and employee-contributed stories, field dispatches, and trip reports.
    • Ensure MTJ serves as a home for Stio's video projects and longer-form brand storytelling.
  • Reporting & Optimization
    • Track, analyze, and report on key social media metrics including follower growth, engagement rate, reach, views, and video completion rate.
    • Collaborate with the performance marketing team to identify high-performing organic content for paid media amplification.
    • Contribute data-informed insights and creative recommendations to ongoing social and content strategy conversations.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 2–4 years of experience in hands-on content creation and social media management — ideally within an outdoor, apparel, or lifestyle brand.
  • Hands-on content creator comfortable shooting and editing short-form video and photo, particularly in unscripted, in-the-moment environments.
  • Experience briefing and directing creative contractors or video production partners.
  • Experience working with athletes on content deliverables and relationship coordination.
  • A genuine mountain person — actively engaged in skiing (resort and/or backcountry), mountain biking, hiking, or similar pursuits, able to keep pace in the field and contribute authentically to the environments our content lives in.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple relationships and workstreams simultaneously.
  • Comfortable shooting social content on iPhone and other equipment with a strong eye for what performs on platform.
  • Basic to intermediate video and photo editing (Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Lightroom, Figma, Capcut or equivalent).
  • Experience with social media management and analytics platforms (Sprout Social preferred).
  • Comfortable managing a social media content library — organizing assets, maintaining naming conventions, and keeping a well-structured content gallery across platforms and shared team systems.
  • Performance-minded with the ability to connect content decisions to business goals and audience growth.
  • Clear, confident written voice — captions, briefs, editorial, and community responses in Stio's brand tone.
  • Strong relationship-builder; communicates with warmth, professionalism, and clarity.
  • Proactive, solutions-oriented, and thrives in a small, high-accountability team.
  • Jackson Hole, WY or Salt Lake City, UT based required; approximately 20% travel required for athlete projects, brand activations, events, and field productions.

THE FINE PRINT

  • Medical, Dental, Vision plans
  • Company-paid Long Term Disability
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • 401k with Match
  • Generous paid time off policies
  • Company Culture Committee
  • Gear test, perks, and more

We provide competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives and benefits. The base salary range for this role is $65,000-$75,000. It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of the range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors including experience, skills, and qualifications.
