Position Summary:

The Transportation Operations Planner is responsible for optimizing drayage and intermodal operations by coordinating and planning freight movements efficiently. This role works closely with dispatchers, terminal managers, and drivers to ensure timely and cost-effective transportation solutions. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of intermodal logistics, port operations, and internal capacity.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, coordinate, and optimize drayage and intermodal shipments to meet customer requirements.
• Monitor container availability, appointment scheduling, and port operations to minimize delays.
• Collaborate with dispatchers and terminal managers to allocate equipment and resources effectively.
• Analyze transportation data and trends to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Maintain strong relationships with carriers, rail providers, and port authorities to ensure smooth operations.
• Communicate shipment status updates and resolve any service disruptions proactively.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety protocols, and customer requirements.
• Utilize transportation management system to track and manage shipments.
• Support the billing and documentation process for drayage and intermodal transactions.
• Provide input on process improvements and strategies to enhance operational effectiveness.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field preferred, or equivalent work experience.
• 3+ years of experience in drayage, intermodal logistics, or transportation planning.
• Strong knowledge of intermodal transportation, port operations, and drayage carrier networks.
• Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS) and load planning software.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Effective communication and collaboration abilities with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong understanding of DOT regulations and industry compliance requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with major ports and rail terminals.
• Familiarity with customs clearance processes and international shipping regulations.
• Previous experience in working with third-party logistics (3PL) providers.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

• Remote-based role with occasional visits to terminals, ports, or customer locations.
• Ability to work flexible hours as needed to support operational demands.
• Requires use of computer systems, telephones, and standard office equipment.
