Job description

Director, Market Intelligence

Reporting To: VP, Global Ecosystem Strategy (Within CMSPI's Consulting Solutions function)

Location: Atlanta, GA (Hybrid - 3 days a week onsite)

(Open to remote if located outside of the Atlanta area - with scope of visiting the office occasionally)

Payments is moving quickly, and it can be hard for even the largest merchants to know which changes really matter. CMSPI helps clients cut through the noise, understand what is happening in the market, and decide where to focus next.

We're looking for a senior payments leader who enjoys making complex topics useful. In this role, you'll shape CMSPI's client-facing Market Intelligence agenda and turn our expertise, data, technology, and commercial judgment into practical guidance for some of the world's largest merchants. This role is for someone who wants to do more than track industry news or produce reports. We are looking for a credible, commercially minded payments expert who can explain why developments matter, what choices they create for clients, and how CMSPI can help clients act with confidence. It is a strong fit for someone who wants to combine deep payments expertise with a visible internal and external role.

About CMSPI

CMSPI is a global payments consultancy that works with leading merchants to improve payment performance, reduce cost, and make better decisions in a complex payments market. Our work combines deep consulting expertise with proprietary data, analytics, and technology - giving clients the insight and support they need to move from knowing there is a problem to knowing what to do about it.

What you'll do

  • Shape CMSPI's market agenda: Identify and prioritise the industry developments, risks, opportunities, and innovations that CMSPI should lead on. Turn early market signals into clear points of view, client education, and practical guidance on where merchants should pay attention, make decisions, or take action
  • Turn market developments, proprietary data, benchmarks, and platform insights into briefings, education materials, client-ready narratives, and clear points of view
  • Bring Market Intelligence into executive briefings, strategic reviews, merchant education, renewals, sales meetings, and growth conversations with priority clients
  • Represent CMSPI in senior client discussions, industry events, conferences, webinars, blogs, marketing activity, and external forums
  • Work closely with Product, Data, Partnerships, Sales, Delivery, Marketing, and leadership so Market Intelligence is connected to how CMSPI builds, sells, and delivers value
  • Work in close partnership with the Solutions team leadership, our go-to-market team, and our Chief Economist to align perspectives and ensure ownership over key initiatives
  • Guide a small, accountable team producing timely, useful, and repeatable intelligence that clients and account teams can actually use
  • Triage demand and focus effort: Prioritize requests from clients and account leads, deciding what should be escalated, what can be scaled through the team, and where Market Intelligence can create the most value

Why CMSPI

CMSPI exists to help make the payments ecosystem more innovative, competitive, and transparent. We've built a unique position as one of the premier trusted advisors to many of the world's largest organizations, giving our teams the opportunity to work on questions that shape how major merchants understand and improve payments.

You'll also have a strong foundation to build from, combining both expertise, partnerships, and technology. CMSPI's technology, data, and analytics platform brings together scale and depth that can help turn market change into intelligence clients cannot get anywhere else, including:

  • Over 87 billion transactions (and growing), amounting to trillions of USD in consumer spend
  • Telemetry on 1 in 7 U.S. card transactions
  • Payments performance data from over 50% of Fortune 500 merchants
  • A Databricks-backed platform supporting scalable insight development and more advanced intelligence products

If you enjoy making sense of a fast-moving market and helping clients decide what to do next, we'd love to hear from you.

Requirements

What we're looking for

  • Senior-level experience in payments, fintech, merchant acquiring, card networks, issuing, payment operations, payments consulting, market intelligence, strategy, or a related field
  • A strong understanding of the payments ecosystem, with the ability to connect market, regulatory, technology, network, issuer, acquirer, and merchant trends to practical client implications
  • Experience setting priorities, guiding work, and helping a small team or cross-functional group produce strong, useful output
  • Credibility with senior client, industry, and internal stakeholders, including confidence in client meetings, sales conversations, events, and market forums
  • Strong communication, storytelling, and thought-leadership skills, with the ability to make complex market change clear, relevant, and actionable
  • Commercial judgment, curiosity, and a genuine interest in helping clients and colleagues understand what is changing and what to do next

Benefits

    • Comprehensive, payments industry training by in-house and industry expert
    • Personal and professional learning opportunities and growth experiences aligned with your career aspirations.
    • 100% healthcare coverage for employees and low-cost dental and vision options
    • Health Savings Account, Flexible Savings Account, and Commuter Benefit options
    • 401(k) retirement plan with company match up to 5% after 90 days of employment
    • Annual company bonus plan based on company & individual performance
    • Quarterly values award for all employees - with a financial prize
    • Regular companywide socials and team building events
    • 15 vacation days, 5 sick days, 8 paid company holidays, and discretionary office closure during the holiday season
