Job Description

As a Travel Superintendent of New Construction, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing new construction projects at various locations. Your expertise in construction management, strong leadership skills, and ability to travel extensively will ensure the successful execution of our projects while maintaining high-quality standards and meeting project deadlines.

Responsibilities
  • Project Management and Execution:
  • Lead and supervise all aspects of new construction projects from initiation to completion.
  • Create look-ahead project schedules that effectively communicate all milestones for the project for all stakeholders
  • Ensure adherence to project plans, specifications, and timelines.
  • Coordinate with project stakeholders, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Monitor project progress, identifying and addressing any issues or delays promptly.
  • Conduct regular site visits and inspections to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and contractual requirements.
  • Collaborate with the project team to resolve construction-related challenges and make timely decisions.
  • Manage project documentation, including regular job site photos, daily reports, drawings, change orders, and other project-related documents.
  • Resource Management:
  • Coordinate and manage project resources, including labor, equipment, and materials.
  • Maintain a well-organized job site with excellent housekeeping, dedicated storage areas for materials and equipment, and all relevant schedules, safety information, and plans are posted for all to view.
  • Create project plan for materials management that clearly outlines required delivery dates by project stage
  • Monitor and track resource utilization to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with the procurement department to source and procure materials and equipment as required.
  • Oversee subcontractor performance, ensuring adherence to project specifications and contractual obligations.
  • Conduct regular subcontractor meetings to review progress, address concerns, and ensure coordination.
  • Ensure that all equipment on-site is inventoried regularly, maintained in safe and good working order, and properly tagged for repairs as needed.
  • Quality Control and Safety:
  • Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure high-quality workmanship.
  • Conduct regular inspections to verify compliance with quality standards and specifications.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulations, promoting a culture of safety on the project sites.
  • Identify and mitigate potential safety hazards or risks, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Investigate and document any safety incidents or near misses, taking appropriate measures to prevent recurrence.
  • Project Reporting and Communication:
  • Prepare and submit regular project status reports to management, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and recommendations.
  • Maintain effective communication with project stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Provide updates on project progress, including schedule updates, resource requirements, and cost variations.
  • Collaborate with the project management team to resolve any contractual or scope-related issues.
  • Budget and Cost Control:
  • Monitor project budgets, tracking expenses, and ensuring cost control measures are in place.
  • Collaborate with the project management team to address budget variations and implement cost-saving measures.
  • Ensures all change orders are properly documented and approved by client and forwarded to finance team
  • Additional Responsibilities:
  • Handle additional responsibilities and projects as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction management, preferably in commercial construction or roofing.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing new construction projects of varying size and complexity.
  • Extensive travel experience and willingness to work on project sites across different locations.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, practices, and industry standards.
  • Solid understanding of safety regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Team player attitude is a must.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools.
  • Ability to climb a 40-foot ladder and lift heavy objects.
  • Willingness to travel year-round.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
